Evie, I’m so happy that we got more Fergus and Marsali in this episode, we haven’t seen enough of them. I also love them and seeing Fergus like this breaks my heart. I also cried watching the scene with Fergus and Jamie. This episode gave Lauren Lyle (Marsali) and Cesar Domboy (Fergus) a chance to show their acting skills more than in previous episodes. I also love the relationship between Fergus and Jamie/Claire. He is their son and his children with Marsali are Jamie and Claire’s grandchildren. Though, it does make me wonder if they had to fill out paperwork “adopting” Fergus or just by giving Fergus the Fraser name at his wedding was enough back in the 18th century. I love the lesson that Jamie had for those boys, to touch the baby or the hot poker and then reminded them that Henri Christian belonged to him and let them have a treat of bread and honey before leaving.

2023-03-28 04:17:37 +0000 UTCEvie, Tom Jones is a very famous naughty 18th century novel. There's a 1960's movie version starring a very young Albert Finney. It's very funny, slapstick even. I'm sure you can access it somewhere. Oh! the word that shocked Tom Christie was the 18th century spelling of the F word.

2023-03-28 04:16:55 +0000 UTCI agree with you about the "religion" thing. When someone tells me they are a Christian it makes me cringe because that usually means it is their excuse to judge others. But most people like Tom Christie were taught to be that way and many forced or shamed into adapting the same philosophies. Not that it makes it any easier to take, but I try to have compassion and not judge as I've never walked in their shoes, Of course in this show, those beliefs can get people killed so....there is that :(

2023-03-28 02:41:38 +0000 UTCTom Christie perfectly represents the fallacy that 'religion' is good. His confusion about true goodness, about positive virtuous actions over virtue-filled words and the false misconceptions of 'God's Wrath,' (means of controlling others) or, about what real heart-felt love is. NO... RELIGION is NOT GOOD, rather it's the GREATEST EVIL ever invented by mankind... meant to control behavior through promise of a 'salvation' of a 'soul' whose meanings can only remain murky enough to fool men AND CONTROL INTELLIGENT, THINKING WOMEN. Tom Chistie and everyone HIS 'religion' touches... is EVIL. The result" poor Fergus meant to sacrifice himself based on those murky misconceptions. This episode showed all of that EVIL.
