Ah, so you asked how Sam and Cait did not fall in love while playing Claire and Jamie. . . .there are some reasons to believe that in seasons 1-2 and maybe into 3 -- they had a very VERY close friendship. How close, exactly, there is a ton of speculation and I believe they always denied anything or deflected questions about that, but if you watch interviews between them from those early seasons, at least to my eyes, their chemistry and interactions were indeed different from later seasons and interviews. There is actually ONE interview from Season 2 maybe? where Sam may have slipped up and he clearly says, when asked where Cait is and if they are together "we are together." It may not be coincidence that Cait got married somewhere during or after Season 3, I believe. I've read some speculation that Cait wanted to get married and have a baby and Sam was far more into his career, his whiskey brand he started, his fitness program for charity and more, and would not make time for a family or just didn't want one when Cait did. (and of course her biological clock was ticking) Then again, some people say this is ALL NONSENSE and that they have never, ever been more than very good friends and work colleagues and that yes, they are professionals. But I'm sort of with you, Evie. At least in those first few seasons, I don't see how one doesn't fall for an acting partner who is THAT handsome/beautiful and kind, funny, etc.

I think you know what I'm referring to. Maybe I'll feel differently when we get into season 7 to see how it plays out since they never resolved that storyline during season 6 :)

2023-03-20 21:45:11 +0000 UTCI've been told by many OL fans whose opinions I hold in the highest regard, that my less than positive take... may not be my best. (And most book readers, it seems to me, tend to hold this opinion slightly even more strongly). But I can't make it 30 minutes into this season without feeling the dread of absolutely NO adventure, no movement in the plot, just the plot sinking down into some sort of storytelling quicksand, and worst of all, the complete breakdown of the one person I am rooting for - Clare Randal-Fraser! I REALLY hate that. I'm sorry... I'm just sorry about where this all goes.

2023-03-20 17:13:20 +0000 UTCI don't understand all the negative comments about Season 6. This was Diana's favorite season. Yes, it's dark, but there are so many character moments in this season instead of plot, plot, plot. And the fact that they had to shoot in horrible weather conditions, adhere to all of the COVID protocols and deal with Cait's pregnancy, it's a wonder that we got a season at all!! Then finding out midway through the shooting that they weren't going to be able to finish all 12 episodes because of those issues and the fact that the crew walked off the set because of terrible working conditions, I am amazed that we got the great season that we did! Many of the complaints are because of Claire taking ether because they say Claire would NEVER have done that. Well maybe book Claire wouldn't have, but show Claire did and I believe it was understandable after all of the trauma that she's been throughout her life! The book is the book, the show is the show - you can love both as I do!

2023-03-20 14:27:14 +0000 UTCWelcome to Season 6. (IMHO, by far and away, the worst season of an otherwise 'masterpiece' series.) Season 6 and even in the first scenes 'religion' rears its ugly, divisive presence and in the second scene Clare, our hero, begins her journey toward being... less than. And all of this 'terribleness' begins with the arrival of the "Chrisities." For the life of me. I can't understand why the book readers defend this season so. So welcome. I only hope Evie's wonderful, charming reacts can help save this rotten season for me.
