Hi Evie, I'm glad you enjoyed the movie. I also love Tony's sense of humor and like Linda said, it was great to see the growth of his character from the beginning of the movie and then after he saw what his weapons were doing. The arc reactor that Tony has in his chest is keeping all the small pieces of shrapnel from entering his heart after the explosion at the beginning of the movie. Oh FYI - Tony's military friend, James "Rhody" Rhodes is played by a different actor in future movies. Some people were confused when they saw a different actor playing Tony's friend. Yes, it was Tony's father, Howard Stark who is in Captain America. Howard was in the room when Steve Rogers became Captain America, he helped Steve find his shield made out of the strongest metal on Earth, Vibranium and he was searching for the plane Steve was in at the end. The end credit scenes typically push the story forward into the next movie, in Iron Man, Tony meets Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) the Director of the agency SHIELD and learns about the Avengers Initiative. That was very exciting for fans of the comics. That TV show, Agents of SHIELD is in the same universe. After a new MCU movie came out, you'd hear people from the TV show refer to something from the movie. For example, after Iron Man was released, the next episode of the TV show might have a character mention Tony Stark's press conference claiming to be Iron Man or talking about the clean up from the mess Tony and Obadiah made in the streets and how much it cost to clean up. Something like that. If you remember in Captain America, Steve Rogers was working with SHIELD and he meets Nick Fury at the end who tells him that he's been asleep for 70 years. I'm looking forward to watching these movies again with you.

The series based on SHIELD is called Agents of SHIELD and it's amazing. It's worth watching sometime and I'd love to see your reactions to it. I think a lot of people would. Just a thought lol.

2023-03-17 19:33:04 +0000 UTCSo great to see your reaction to this first film in the MCU. Robert Downey Jr. IS Iron Man, he's absolutely, iconically, PERFECT for the role. Like, he was born to play it. 😍 Love Tony and Pepper together, they do make a great team! And yeah, LOTS of chemistry! Tony is a genius and the Iron Man suit is SO friggin' cool! But I really like that the filmmakers (and the original comic creators - yes that was Stan Lee, btw!) made it a much richer story and the character much more fleshed out, than just a glib, cool guy in an awesome, badass suit, killing bad guys. Like those things were there, obviously, but you really get to see the growth in Tony's character, when he sees first hand what his legacy is, and what his company is responsible for. He really took Yinsen's advice to not waste his life to heart and changed, while, still continuing to be Tony - with his cheekiness and sass. Loved this, can't wait for more! ❤️
