What did you think of this episode??

Evie "war neurosis" or "shell shock" has a modern name . . . . PTSD and Roger definitely has it. In the books Jamie has it as well. Even in the later books he occasionally has a flash back. You will eventually hear Ian's story, but I'm think it isn't until S. 6. I'm really addicted to your reactions.

IMHO, this episode should have won some type of awards - not only for the inventive direction-production using the silent film enhancement, but for the brilliant writing as well. First Evie, it's important to know... no one was trying to deceive you. Roger DID DIE... a little bit. And the jury was out whether Roger would come back to life... even to his moment of truth on the cliff. It was only then that Briana truly saved him. As for Ian, it's even more complicated. His sorrow and his 'truth' seem to be hidden very deep. And his pain has overwhelmed him. For me, the metaphorical and poetic comparison of the "buried tool", for Roger; his words, and for Ian; his hatchet, is extraordinarily well-written story-telling. I absolutely loved it. Finally, Maria Doyle-Kennedy (Jocasta) was. and still is, a wonderful Irish singer before becoming a fantastic actor. I'm thankful she stars in two of my all-time favorite series; Orphan Black, and of course, Outlander! I think her poignant farewell to Murtaugh helps make this episode even more of a classic! Yet again, an extraordinary reaction to an extraordinary episode of Outlander!

Hey Evie, See, we weren’t gaslighting you about Roger, it really was him, we just didn’t tell you that he survived. Sorry, didn’t want to spoil it. This was definitely difficult for Roger. I can’t imagine reliving that. I absolutely love Ian and was so happy to see him when I first watched this episode and I think I love him even more since he’s been with the Mohawk. We do learn more about how Ian has changed. I think he looks badass! Just saying. It was so nice seeing their family dinner (we will see it again) with Claire and Jamie at each end of the table and all of their kids. It seems perfect that it was Ian and Roger who were able to reach each other. I thought it was unfair that Ian didn’t get to see Murtagh, but if we had to loose him at least we got Ian back BTW: how is your boyfriend liking the show?
