What an episode... 😔

9,5/10!

What did you think of this episode??

Comments

Just a couple of fyi's - Buck is Dougal and Geillis's son. Also, it was Sam who came up with the idea for Jamie to wear the redcoat.

Bunny Arszman

...well, I just think the answer is going to remain as a 'cliff'hanger!

But but... the coat!!!!! it's the wrong coat 🥺 it can't be.....

The next extraordinary episode is unlike those from Outlander... one that may challenge Evie in ways she hadn't imagined before. After all, Evie was so certain that Roger was alive... but was he?

Terry Yelmene

Yep, Murtagh dying was The Worst! The first time I saw that I cried and cried and cried. Sam's acting is so good. He deserves a lot more recognition as an actor for his work on Outlander. They way he was like a little kid, not accepting his godfather was dead, asking Claire to heal him, then the way his face crumpled once he was kneeling by the fire, crying. Great acting!

Kimberly Graham

I did too... can't help it

Oh Evie, This is a tough episode to watch. Fun Fact: It was actually Sam’s idea that Jamie be forced to wear the Redcoat. After everything the Redcoats have done to Jamie and the Scots, especially Black Jack, he knew it would be a shock for us, the viewers, to see Jamie wearing it and he was right! Yes, that is Graham McTavish playing Buck MacKenzie which is fitting considering he is Dougal and Geillis’s son and Roger’s ancestor. Yes, Brown is an asshole for smashing Claire’s syringe, but at the same time he makes a point when he says that no woman will talk to him that way. We love that Claire is head strong and speaks her mind like the 20th century woman she is, but she must remember that this is the 1700’s and women don’t talk like that to men. This is one episode that I was not looking forward to, especially after Murtagh declared his love for Jocasta in the previous episode and all along you have been hoping that they would all find a way to be happy. I was right there hoping the same thing as I watched these episodes for the first time. The fact that it was the boy who Jamie was trying to encourage at the beginning of the episode saying “You canna waiver” just makes it even more heartbreaking. Murtagh’s last words were taken directly from the book when he died at Culloden and yes, we were crying right along with you when he died and hearing Jamie call him Goistidh (Ghost-gee) meaning Godfather. I cry every time and think of the flashback to when Murtagh swore his own to little Jamie at the opening of season 5 and I understood why he was right there by Jamie’s side in season 1-2. I hate to tell you that it was Roger that they found hanging from that tree. As sad as this episode is, there is something in the next episode that I really think you will love, but it has nothing to do with Roger.

Sam Heughan is 42 now, I believe. So he was about 38 or 39 when Season 5 was filmed. Somewhere around there. He was not always in that kind os shape. If you look at his films before Outlander, he was actually a skinny guy. He had to bulk up a LOT to play Jamie and he works out every day and has to eat a pretty strict diet to look like that. (I only know all of this because I belong to his fitness/charity organization called My Peak Challange.)

Kimberly Graham

I love how delighted you are every time there is a sex scene. I share that delight, 100%! They are so sexy and beautiful together!

Kimberly Graham

Well... can't wait to see your reaction to next episode... I cried with you, again !!!

Nessie- Je lis, et alors

Evie, the fact that you cry is why we love your reactions. We've all been there.

anticipation... when you just know the perfect reactor is about to see an episode of television you have waited for them to see... to experience.. for the first time... ...well here it is! "We fight face-to-face, and no amount of prayer will help." ~ Jamie Fraser First Evie, yes, those two youngest milita that Jamie sits with and advises to kill (hauntingly so) are those that Roger insured would return. But then Evie? attracted to Dougal? even with a wig? Evie? Dougal? Then... THE BRANDISHING OF THE RED COAT and the famous goodbye of Jamie and Clare. Evie was so supportive of Isaiah after he was shot in the back. And so aggrieved at that bastard; Lionel Brown, at his destroying the syringe. ...then... "NO!" and a flow of tears as the shot rang out that had Murtaugh fall into Jamie's embrace - and sadly... "I'd never betray your mother... no matter who asked." "Do not be afraid. It doesn't hurt to die." were Murtaugh's last words to Jamie's rage "HELP NE!!" ...to Clare's "He's gone." and finally, Jamie taking back his oath "You WONNA LEAVE ME!" for which, Evie silently sobs. [one of the best reaction sequences of this series] Then Evie exclaims "Where is Roger?" Finally, seeing the man hanging with the white handkerchief... "No... no... no... There's no frigging way! No! It can't be Roger! I REFUSE IT!" Fittingly, at the end of this fantasic episode Evie singled out Sam Heughan's phenomenal acting. That was especially touching. For yet another episode, IMHO, this was as good as reactions can get!
