The fright is amplified by the ugly creatures of death directly conflicting with our near inate natural human response of ‘verbally’ reacting to the danger/stress. The need to be ‘silent’ is so unnerving, that alone adds so much tension to the danger, it’s almost unbearable. But… but… Evie I can’t stress this enough… this is that rare movie when the sequel is actually even better than the first one. IMHO, Part 2 is a friggin masterpiece, so please consider reacting to it!

2023-01-27 19:12:01 +0000 UTCThis movie is so amazing - hard to believe that this was John Krasinski's first time directing and that he was part of the writing team as well. An absolute home run on his first try! I haven't seen the second one yet, but I really wanna watch it. The creature design was really terrifying and so well done too. There were so many genuinely horrifying moments with them! And you're right, the tension in this film is through the roof. I was heartbroken in the scene where the Dad is sacrificing himself for his kids. Because yes, of course he would. But I loved the scream of like anger and anguish that he used to bring the monster to him. You could just tell that all his frustration and heartbreak were in that scream. Genius. All the acting in this film was so well-done too. From the kids even, incredible job. The scenes between John and Emily (when they're dancing and then after the baby's born) were SO perfect. I need more movies with the two of them. I think if the monster hadn't ransacked the house and broken the pipe, they might have been able to live in the sound-proofed place they'd made underground. Poor baby wouldn't have been able to see much daylight though. The whole situation the movie creates is just nail-biting and very stressful. Love it! Great choice - it was definitely one I'd voted for, so yay! 😊 Can't wait to see what's up for choices in your action movie poll! 😊 Oh, and yeah, judging by how much I screamed when I actually gave birth - I'd be DEAD! Lol!!
