2023-01-06 19:45:50 +0000 UTCFor me, the pre-scene for this episode is as special as nearly any we've seen. While Murtaugh's fatherly relationship with Jamie has been evident from day one at Castle Leoch, the formal bond of mother-to-guardian-to-son voiced between the three, then two, holds even much more meaning than we could have ever assumed. THEN WELCOME TO SEASON 5 and the wedding of Briana and Roger! I thought Evie would just burst once she realized that was going to be the season's start. And Evie seemed to just beam at Jamie's charm as the father of the bride. Of course the flashback to Clare and Jamie's own wedding is perhaps the most special of entire set of festivities that makes this episode a fan favorite. Throughout this episode and certainly the wedding scenes I must remark how much greater everything is because of Bear McCeary's breathtaking music. This episode's music is somehow even better than perfct! But Governor Trion's demands turn the festivity's dark for Jamie. Yet, Jamie's recourse to Trion somehow turned Evie Glorious! Glorious is the only word I can use to describe Evie's face and her exclaiming: "YES!" at seeing Jamie in full Kilted Highlander regalia. And at the Fiery Cross - Fealty Oath to Jamie Ceremony Evie was held captive with a grin that seemingly couldn't be removed from her face. Finally, the solemn and heartbroken request Jamie makes of Murtaugh to end the life-long vow between the two men... left Evie in tears at the end. For me, as good... as a reaction can get!

2023-01-02 22:23:34 +0000 UTCI ended up watching the reaction again and I have to say it like so many others have… I LOVE watching your reactions Evie. You get so invested in the characters and the story. Every time you cry, smile, giggle, squeal or when your jaw drops or you put your hand over your mouth in shock. It’s all priceless. I especially love when you see something that gets you emotionally happy and you say “stop it” with a huge smile on your face while wiping tears away. To answer a question you had during the Oath taking scene… yes, that is what Jamie wanted Roger to do, but he seemed surprised that Roger knew the oath and didn’t have to repeat the words.

2023-01-02 19:10:51 +0000 UTCHi Evie, Oh my god… I love the cold open flashback to Murtagh and Jamie as a little boy… 🥺 that helps us understand why Murtagh was always with Jamie during S1 and S2. Ughhh… I love Jamie and Claire so much. The scene when she finds him getting something old, new, borrowed and blue and Jamie asking “It’s time?” was perfect and then when Jamie sees Brianna, clasps her pearls on her neck and asks “having just gotten you back, must I give you away so soon?” Awww… Jamie wants more time with his daughter before giving her away to be married. Then Brianna replies “Da, no matter where I am, I will always be your wee girl” 😭 I’m right with you Evie, I’ve got full on tears streaming down my face. I love Jamie/Brianna scenes and I think a lot of people complained that we didn’t get something between them at the end of S4 when they got Roger back. Evie, I’m not sure if you know this or noticed during the new opening, Sam and Caitriona became producers of the show in S5 and not just actors. They are very protective of the characters. When Jamie asks Brianna if she’s ready and calls her “A leannan” that was from the episode when he takes her bee hunting and tells her that means “My darling” “THE FRASERS OF THE RIDGE ARE HERE!!” 💜 This episode has me all in the feels. When Jamie and Claire looked at each other remembering their own wedding vows… squeeee!! 🥰 Evie, did you notice that when Roger was talking to Germain, he referred to Jamie as “Grandpere” I love that! And we saw that Marsali is having another baby. Brianna and Roger’s son is named Jeremiah which is Roger’s middle name and they call him Jemmy which does sound like Jamie. And poor Brianna hearing that Bonnet is still alive and he knows her name from when she visited Bonnet in jail. When Aunt Jocasta told Murtagh that someone had proposed, she was hoping that Murtagh would’ve said something, but he didn’t and I loved the way Roger stood up to her. Now the Governor is forcing Jamie to hunt Murtagh not realizing that they are family. Haha… “invisible wee beasties” Again, I’m not sure if you recognized the music that played when Jamie got his kilt from the trunk, but it was the music they played when he was getting his army ready for Culloden at the end of S2 with Prince Charles Stuart. God, he looks so good in his kilt. We haven’t seen it since he wore it in the flashbacks of Culloden in S3E1. Sam was really happy to wear it again. I love seeing Jamie basically become “Laird” of Frasers Ridge and have the men give their fealty and loyalty to him the way they did in S1 to Colum at The Gathering episode and then one last cry when Jamie released Murtagh from his vow. God, I love this show… 💛
