Hey Evie, when Roger first arrived at the village they put him through a “gauntlet” basically the Mowhawk created an aisle for Roger to go through while they were hitting him to see if he could make it through. He wasn’t able to, so they didn’t bring him into the tribe and kept him as a captive instead. I love the scene with Fergus and Marsali and I think you’re right. He grew up watching Claire and Jamie together and saw what they shared and that they would die for each other. I remember loving Marsali a little bit more after this episode. They make a great couple and you are right again that they are a young version of Jamie and Claire. They work as a team, unlike other couples from that period where the husbands are king and the wives are in their place. Rick Rankin (Roger) was brilliant in that scene in the hut. Yeah… other than a few scenes, I’d skip this episode if I were rewatching on my own.

"Fergus grew up seeing Jamie and Clare together and I could only expect him not accepting anything less than what he saw them share. That was a chaotic sentence, but I got it out - And YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT I MEANT!" "I didn't think she would go in the fire with him - That's kinda INTENSE! I burn my finger when cooking and I'm a mess for two days... Am I going to walk into fire? - NO WAY!" Then Evie questions two decisions made during the episode: 1. Fergus going to free Murtaugh - But she agreed. 2. Briana going to forgive Bonnett - Seemed weird to her IMHO all of it, contributes to another Great Reaction!
