Sam and Dean together > Everything else

7,6/10!

What did you think of this episode??

Comments

The first time I saw this, I wasn’t really thinking of Sam's perspective and just wanted them back on the same page, so I was backing Dean, lol. You’re right, they are so good at selling the sibling dynamic. But when I watched again, I really thought about what Sam would be feeling, so I felt differently about Dean's annoyance. Like so many others though, I just hate it when they fight!

You're right about Dean pushing Sam I hadn't seen it that way but it's true! also I think them being soooo believable at playing brothers I kind of brushed it off thinking this is like normal brother behaviour hahaha but yeah, it's a good point! not everyone deals with conflict the same way and I think Sam really did need his space at that moment! like you said though I'm happy they got better at the end there :)

Hi Evie! Great reaction, as always! I really like this episode even though I don’t think it’s necessarily one of the best in the series. It’s just a sold, fun, monster of the week, for me. And I like that Sam and Dean get back on the same page by the end. So, I don’t entirely think Dean was wrong for killing Amy, and I actually understand Dean not wanting to tell Sam about Amy until he was sure he was doing better. But, when he tells Sam to stop being a bitch, I want to smack him. Sam has the right to be angry, especially when Dean is one of the few people/ things he is supposed to be able to trust in while he’s already struggling with reality. Also, Sam deliberately put some distance between them to cool down. Then Dean sits down and starts talking like nothing is wrong. He pushes for them to work together, and is butthurt because Sam isn’t laughing at his jokes or bantering with him. Dean can’t just decide when it’s time for Sam to be over it because he’s lonely. I love Dean, but, even though I think he was ultimately right about Amy, I think he was being a bit of a jerk here. However, I like that Sam actually does listens to what Dean says during their fight. I think when Sam has to kill the human psychic, it kind of adds perspective. He didn’t want to kill a human, but he had to to save Dean, Melanie and himself, so it puts him in a Dean's shoes a little. I like their talk at the end, with both Sam and Dean being honest about things. I do like that Dean cares so much about Sam that it eats him up inside to lie to him, but I don’t like how he deals with his feelings by drinking, since it just hurts himself more in the end. Anyway, I read someone point out once how Sam looks at Dean, but doesn’t respond to him until after the waiter talks to him first, and how it could mean Sam isn’t even sure Dean is even real when he first sits down. I’m not sure if the show was specifically going for this, but I think it’s a cool detail. I really like Melanie, as she’s just very down to earth, and I like how the actress plays her. Even though they don’t even kiss, I really like her and Dean's chemistry, especially the end scene with the palm reading. She’s actually one of my favorite potentials for Dean. She would be a fun character to see again, being someone who knows what they do, and her job being sort of supernatural adjacent.

Oh, and also, how could I forget - ELLEN!! Came by to tell Dean off one more time! 😍😍😍 I love that so much.

Great reaction. This isn't an absolute fave of mine or anything, but I do enjoy it. Just FYI, Lilydale is a real place in New York state, that does claim to be a "spiritualist haven". Would probably be pretty wild to go there! 😊 I was very happy that Sam and Dean eventually worked out their issues. And yeah, I understood everything Dean was saying to him, and agree as well. I get where Sam was coming from. But I'm glad he eventually realized where Dean was coming from too, and understood why he did what he did. I was chuckling when you were so suspicious of Melanie. 😄 I'd never thought about it before, but she does seem a little guilty in that one part when her friend thinks she's safe but isn't. But I actually really liked her character, and kinda shipped her and Dean; they were cute and had good chemistry. But of course, nope. 😏 Bye bye Melanie! Can I point out two "Dean Thirst Trap" things from this episode? 1. At the end when she's "reading his palm", look at the size of his massive paw compared to her hand. 👀 2. His little smile right after that when she says, "Answer's hazy, try again later." melts me into a puddle of mush everytime! So adorable/sexy! I also think it's really sweet how soft he is with her after her friend dies. He gives her a hug and then when they're asking her questions about it, the look he gives her is so caring and concerned. VERY sweet! ❤️ K, I'm done my Dean thirst now. Looking forward to the next one! 😊

I like this episode, I enjoy the storyline. I may be in the minority and I admit to being Dean biased, but I never understood Sam's anger about Amy. What bothers me is when he tells Dean that he killed his friend. He met the girl when he was young and never saw her again. How is that a friend? If they would have just had Sam be angry on the principle, Dean killing a monster who we don't know would turn evil completely, then I would understand. But to have him be angry in part that she was a friend makes no sense to me. But whatever, they're good again. I can't wait until you get to the later episodes this season, they're the better ones. And how dare you put your stomach ahead of a review! Kidding.
