Oh yes! I'll try to set up polls in the future that's a smart idea! I'm excited to do more movies :)

Hi Evie ! I love this movie so much... "Get busy living, or get busy dying..." so true. Lots of great messages in this movie. But I think that the most important one, at least to me, is : hope is a good thing. Hope is what keeps us alive, what makes us survive, makes us want to live. It can give some meaning to life, a purpose. Save us from dark places. What a beautiful message :) Hope you are doing well :) xxx from France

As I sit down with my drink and get ready to experience this reaction by re-watching, what for me is the second greatest movie ever made, I am... hopeful. I can't help but sense that because of this extraordinary movie and wonderful reactor... that this may, just may, be one of the greatest experiences... ever! Hitting < play > About Morgan Freeman before we even know his character as a possible murderer: "I hope he didn't do it" Yes, Evie was going to make this special! Then the roof job scene when Andy begins to prove his worth with the head gaurd and the other inmate happens through Morgan Freeman's voice... Evie crys... and I know it's on - this is going to be truly great. I knew how difficult everything that was to come would be for her... the Brooks suiside was coming... Evie groaned... Then Andy exclaimed about the beauty of music and hope... Evie sighed. Then when Andy says, "I had to come to prison to become a crook"... Evie laughed. And when Evie says about Tommy, "He's going to have passed." Evie's eyes twinkled. And Evie gasped at Tommy's murder. Which brings us to the famous Andy and Red "Bad Luck-Path of the Tornado=-Zihuatanejo, Mexico" dialogue in the yard. Evie listened intently without saying too much. All quiet really. Then "The Pressure and Time Escapre" Evie burst with joy as she realized Andy's new identity and well deserved riches!!! Finally, the great Morgan Freeman's rehabilitation monologue for the ages... to Evie's "Thanks!" and cheering and "Amazing!" at the rock. And like the 'hopeful' message of the movie, the experience I had 'hoped' for... had come true. Thank You, Evie!

Hi Evie, I loved your reaction! Your facial expressions always make me smile. You are so good at figuring out what is going to happen. This is such a fabulous movie. I love the friendship between Andy and Red and loved that Andy never lost hope even though Red told him in the beginning that hope was just a waste in that place, but by the end Red was saying “I hope” I’ve seen this movie countless times, if I’m watching TV and I find it, I’ll watch it. I appreciate that you don’t talk over the dialogue in your reactions like others do and you will pause to talk through something. I would love if you did more movies, if your schedule can handle it with school and work. I would suggest The Green Mile starring Tom Hanks. It was also a story by Stephen King and directed by Frank Darabont who did Shawshank. Typically if a reactor watches one of these movies, people will recommend the other. Forrest Gump is also a great movie if you haven’t already seen it. Another person on Patreon that I follow is Cassie her channel is “Popcorn in Bed” and she does movie polls for different genres and stuff like that. Keep up the great reactions!! 😊

This was a fantastic reaction! I'm so glad you enjoyed this movie - it's an absolutely incredible movie! Brooks' storyline absolutely breaks my heart every time I see it. When he says he's hoping Jake might stop by for a visit - ugh! So many tears every time! This story was extra amazing BECAUSE of the hope in the end, watching Red walk toward Andy is just pure joy! 😍😍 You're absolutely right, that treating prisoners as sub-human is horrifying, no matter what they've done, we need to treat humans as humans. And paying your debt is one thing, even making sure that TRULY dangerous people are locked away from society forever (you know serial killers, pedophiles, that kind of thing) but torture and brutality is NEVER okay! This was fabulous (loved the format), can't wait for the next one! 🥰

Absolute gorgeous movie!!

To me this is one of the best movies ever made. It has high rewatchability and I've seen it almost 20 times now. Like nearly all of Stephen King's stories, it takes place in the northeast US, notably the Maine area. Director Frank Darabont did it justice. Another Frank Darabont and Stephen King collaboration you would like is "The Green Mile" (1999), based on another SK novella. Interestingly, in the Shawshank story, the character Red, was really white Irish, and they changed it for the movie for Morgan Freeman. They inserted the joke about Morgan Freeman being black Irish "Well.... maybe because I'm Irish." Andy's plodding demeanor character worked out for him as it earned him lots of privileges and "friends" in prison.

Can not wait to watch this reaction! Wish I could watch it now - but I have to go out! Why do I make plans with people? It just means I have to actually go! Lol!! But I'll be watching this later this evening that's for sure! Such an amazing movie!!

This movie is on my all time favorites list. I love it. The first half hour is hard to get through with what Andy goes through, and I think it lags a little in the middle, but none of that takes away from the love I have for this movie. I am a fan of Tim Robbins and think he is terrific in this, as is Morgan Freeman but what isn't Morgan Freeman good in. I love that this is a love story between Red and Andy, not in a romantic way, but who cares if it was; but between two beaten down men who find camraderie with one another and trust and acceptance. Love it.
