Outlander 4x07 - "Down the Rabbit Hole" FULL REACTION

Comments

One of my favorite scenes is the flashback of Frank and Brianna in the car. In the book, Brianna did not stay with Laoghaire. Instead, Jenny (and Ian) welcome Brianna to Lallybroch. Jenny shows Brianna letters from Jamie at Fraser's Ridge. Laura Donnelly (who plays Jenny) was not available to act in Outlander season 4 because of prior commitment. The Irish actress was busy with work on a Broadway play, then giving birth to her second child, and the back to the Broadway play.

Fyi....the whole story with Leary (can't spell her name like it is in the book) is totally a show story that never happened in the book. Laura Donnelly (the original Jenny) couldn't come back to the show. She was in a play somewhere, but Laura has no interest in being in Outlander any longer. She didn't want to play an older woman and she had a tough time with the Outlander fandom (not sure why). Since the Jenny character returns in Season 7, they have recast her. Laura was such a good actress. It's a shame to lose her, but I'll give the new actress a chance to shine in the role. I think Outlander does an amazing job with casting most of the time.

Hi, Evie! I'm so sorry for the loss of your father. I've lost both my parents and it's truly hard without them!

Bunny Arszman

Evie, you are so sharp! Roger did indeed just save his multiple times great grandfather. Also. did you realize that the obituary that Frank had and Brianna briefly saw was the same one that announced Jamie and Claire's deaths in the 18th century. What Frank knew and when did he know it has been the $64,000 question in Outlander fandom for years. Another great reaction!

@Tara - You always add so much! Here, every comment you contribute... from the coat to the Briana-Laoghaire by Evie reaction... just all of this! But singling out the cematary scene... well, Thank You! The reactions here are phenominal - AND, the community is pretty darn good too!

Poor Frank! I felt so bad for him, I didn’t get why he was so upset in this episode the first time I watched this, but the fact that he saw the obituary and KNEW that Claire was going to leave him and go back to Jamie must’ve been so painful and why he wanted to take Brianna to England with him since Claire would be gone. That flashback when Brianna pretended to be a therapist and spoke with an English accent is actually how she sounds IRL. She is English playing American, Caitriona is Irish playing someone from England and Lord John is Australian playing someone from England. Fun Fact: Caitriona actually understands Gaelic so, it’s funny to think all the actors speaking Gaelic in the first couple seasons didn’t understand it, but she does. She teases Sam in interviews asking what something means in Gaelic and he doesn’t know… it’s so cute. I couldn’t wait for Evie to see Laoghaire! Poor Evie almost choked just like in The First Wife LoL. I love when you look at the camera with the side eye… like “Bitch please” 😂 Haha! I love Evie when she gets protective “I’ll Fuck you up Laoghaire!” Evie, the look on your face when Laoghaire and Brianna realized who they other one was is priceless! Oh Evie, that scene with Brianna talking to Frank’s grave must’ve been difficult for you with everything you’ve been dealing with, I’m so sorry. In the book, Brianna does meet both Ian and Jenny as well as a bunch of other family from Jamie’s side before getting on the ship for North Carolina. I always wondered how she explained why she was in Scotland trying to get to her parents when technically she was supposed to be in Boston. You’d think Uncle Ian would’ve wondered why she didn’t just travel from Boston to North Carolina. They never explain that… oh well… I also love that Brianna was wearing Claire’s coat at the harbor with the white fur around the hood. I remember when Claire wore the coat in season one when she went on the road to collect the rents with Dougal before she married Jamie… wow… that seems so long ago! I also love that Brianna saw Frank at the harbor, it was as if he was giving his blessing to her to find Claire and Jamie. I think she needed that closure after she got out of his car without saying I love you before his accident. Wonderful heartbreaking reaction Evie!! Looking forward to the rest of season 4. 😊

@Terry Well said!

The PURE JOY Evie shows when she sees Briana is A-m-a-z-i-n-g! Then the second round of joy when Evie realizes Roger is going too... f-a-n-t-s-t-i-c! But NOTHING Could Possibly Be BETTER than when Evie Sees Frank Being An Amazing Father! Then that same quick violent choke Evie had in 'The First Wife' episode at the sight of Laoghaire which was matched by the disgusted "No!" at seeing Stephen Bonnet with Roger! When Lallybrook is mentioned and the moment of reveal of Briana's mother comes... and Laoghaire's evil conniving happens - "You F ing Bitch!!" Evie's reaction to all of this was great. - - - But... as the story turns to Frank and Briana's last interaction in his car, the pain and sorrow on Evie's face far outweighs everything else in this reaction. And her emotions crushed even me when Frank's spirit looks on her at the dock. - - - Yet again, IMHO, This is AS GOOD as Television Reaction GETS!!! (tears)
