Great reaction as always! This isn't one of my faves of the season, although there are definitely things I really enjoy about it. Love the flashbacks with Sam, always cool to get a look into the boys' history. And yes, Dean is incredibly adorable throughout this episode. π Jensen directed this episode, and I really enjoyed what he did with it, the way the flashbacks were edited in with the present day stuff was really smooth and did a great job connecting the threads of the story. So, onto the very tough subject of Dean killing Amy. I find this whole situation sad for literally everyone involved. But I do understand why he did it. He killed her because he truly believed that she would kill again, and because he knew Sam couldn't do it. As to what you said, that Dean ended up doing the same thing Sam did - well, I think he sort of did do the same thing, but also not the same thing. Lol! He did let Jake (Amy's son) live, just like young Sam let young Amy live. And they both did that because neither Jake nor young Amy had killed anyone. They were monsters, yes, but innocent ones so far. That's obviously not the case with adult Amy. If they'd just run into her, and she'd been quietly eating dead people's brains, Dean probably would have been okay with leaving her alone and letting her go. But of course, that wasn't what happened. So, he acted the same as Sam in sparing an innocent monster, but his actions were also different from Sam's because he wasn't okay with letting Amy go after she'd killed people. It is obviously awful that Jake saw what happened, and I know that's gonna be hard for Dean, but I do think he truly believed he was doing what was right, and I do agree with him, as heartbreaking and awful as the situation was. π For me, this episode isn't a fave, but the next episode is! Looking forward to it! So wonderful to have you back, π
