Excellent episode. The show creators originally intended this to be the season 2 finale. They were expecting another 13-ep season like season 1. This helps to explain the cliffhanger at the end of the episode. However, the people at FOX had other ideas and wanted the show extended to an 18-episode season. In fact, meddling by FOX helped to screw up the show somewhat. It moved to Netflix after season 3, and the studio meddling is later addressed indirectly in an episode.
