Great reaction - this episode is a lot, we find out so much information here. So, here's my take. Cas definitely wants to believe that he's doing the right thing, that the ends justify the means. But there was a part of him that knew working with Crowley and trying to open the door to Purgatory was wrong, and that's why he didn't tell them, because he knew they'd try to convince him to stop. And there was a part of him, as he mentions a few times, that was very prideful and felt like what he was doing was righteous no matter what, because he was "the chosen one", "the new god" as Crowley called him. It's heartbreaking to see Dean trying so hard to believe in him, and then gut-wrenching when he realizes Cas has been lying to them. He's so betrayed and I feel so bad for him. I do feel bad for Cas too, because he's kind of trapped himself into a bad place. It would be pretty hard to go back now, and he's losing his closest friends over it. At the same time though, he frustrates me because, he realizes and admits that he's being prideful and full of hubris, but then goes and does it all over again when he tells Dean he won't be able to stop him cause he's, "just a man." Like, dammit Cas! Lol! This show is fabulous at giving us scenarios that force us to question what the best course is, and presenting us with conflicts between characters where we can understand where both sides are coming from. I come out on Dean, Sam's and Bobby's side here, but I do know that Cas started with good intentions. Much the same as Sam in S4. Next episode is great too. S6 is almost finished! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Crazy!
