Elijah’s self righteous posturing in this episode and the previous, is rendered even more pathetic later on in the next season. His actions alone after being upset with Klaus “going too far” is laughable.

2022-09-28 16:37:02 +0000 UTCIn the scene between klaus and Elijah when Elijah stood up and left after klaus affirmed to him that he would never strike him down, It’s not that Elijah couldn’t say the same. Klaus by now knows that Elijah would never harm anyone in his family to the extent of death as family is the most important to him. In TVD he almost killed klaus because he had mistreated and in Elijah’s Eyes ended or tortured his siblings when Elijah didn’t know of them that’s what pushed him to almost kill klaus being family. The reason Elijah stood and left was more to show klaus that he was still not in the best of terms but the pause he did was a way of showing that he was heard. Elijah is also very forgiving when it comes to klaus so him leaving after that could also be because he didn’t want to give klaus that forgiveness and staying there he could’ve easily done so by how klaus was speaking to him, but no it’s not that Elijah couldn’t say the same klaus already knows he wouldn’t turn on him to the brink of death.
