2021-05-30 20:03:07 +0000 UTCOh yes, the fact that this show has a much more realistic approach then Twilights had, makes me appreciate this show even more. Vamparism is not romanticized, it is seen here like a curse. Which teenager girl wouldn't be scare stiff to turn into a predatory killer battling every single day of her life agaist blood lust, living on the edge of society, having to move all the time because otherwise people would be aware of the fact you don't age therefore of what you are, never have the chance of having roots, having a family or children. I guess that would scare the bejesus out of anybody with a bit of common sense. Vampire in this universe aare a violent species an it's more logic and more interesting the constant battle between animal instinct and human concience, the bloodiness, the hyper sexuality nmixed with violence is part of being a vampire it's part of the vampire genre allure that is in any trditional vampire trope, here in TVD they cherish it, very much, and I prefer it to the way too modern bloodless Twilights unrealistic saga aimed for a very young audience. TVD is more for adults.

The fact that Elena doesn't even consider turning vampire (if you see in twilight Bella wanting Edward to turn her so bad) she doesn't even see that option! Now I can see her point of view better with wanting to sacrifice herself.. I still don't agree but I get it 🧐

The whole conversations between Alaric and Jenna, Stefan and Damon, Stefan and Elena, Bonnie and Jeremy and Tyler and Matt have been cut out. Anyway, I know, Elijah is awesome!! Stefan and Elena at the lake house in this episode, is one of my Stelena favourite moments, the embrace in front of the lake, in so cute and Paul eyes are stunning. One of the things about Stelena is that she is young and she doesn’t see a future with Stefan, how can she? She is human and he is a vampire, she does love him and that is as clear as a bell, but not at the point that would even consider to relinquish her human life to become a vampire for be with him. Therefore her choice to scarify herself for the sake of her family is understandable; Stefan’s love is not a strong enough motivation, as much as the safety of her family and friends. Having said that, I agree with Stefan that she shouldn’t give up and surrender herself to her faith but fight and try to find a different solution, to do whatever it takes. Tyler, is another character that has grown so much, and that I find myself very emotionally attached to, without even realising how that happen. The main purpose of the “kids” of this show, is to change the status quo, to question the legacy hatred handed down to them by their parents and ancestors and find a different way of living, by being compassionate and loving, by accepting what is different and find a true community spirit. And Tyler as young as he is, has a great weight on his shoulder to step away from the legacy his family left him, being him from a leading family with so many skeletons in the closet and a lot to answer for, like slavery, or like sparkling a war with the vampire to profit out of them being slathered gaining power and wealth out of it.
