2023-06-17 12:37:46 +0000 UTCProbably. It really wouldn't surprise me if she fails to even register them as people compared to her, which is kind of where my original line of logic was. Like a kid with a magnifying glass frying ants, it's possible Blue doesn't realize why her actions are wrong, but that doesn't mean they're not or that she's not still wrong for resorting to them in the first place. But that a moment of really stopping to examine said actions, or something to elicit an instance of empathy, might help her cross that bridge to at least stopping. It seemed like it was Greg's empathy that really got her attention with regards to him, after all. Then again, she's only reluctant about destroying Earth because it was Pink's and not because she cares about it as a place and she "liked" Greg but she didn't see him as a person, he was a neat souvenir to take with her. But wouldn't the shards work just as well as a memento with the added benefit of not hearing Yellow complain? Especially if the connection to Pink is all she's getting out of their continued existence. We saw Pearl kept a bubble full of shards after all, but that was more about the bubble than what was in it . . . perhaps Pink Diamond was the one to bubble the Rose Quartzes and it's the bubbles Blue really cares about? Like maybe what's contained in them is immaterial to who made them? Like she could care less if the gems inside are destroyed but popping the bubbles is what she's against?

2023-06-17 08:10:00 +0000 UTCI wonder if the diamonds didn't fully comprehend shattering until it happened to one of them? Like Blue Diamond went from casually ordering Ruby to be shattered to being unwilling to let Yellow just shatter all the Rose Quartz gems, maybe her perspective changed because of losing Pink? Like when you have a kid who keeps hitting other kids until they get hit. Not trying to excuse anything she did before or after, just saying it makes me wonder.

2023-06-17 03:18:29 +0000 UTCI love this ep, especially for how it shows that even after all this time, the Diamonds are essentially still trapped in their grief, and so much of what they are doing is because they simply have no way to process and move on from it, each being stuck in one of the phases. Blue is deeper in Depression then Artax in the Swamp of Sorrow, while Yellow is bouncing between bargaining "If we destroy the Earth it will make the pain go away" and Anger.

They’re both grieving pink in different ways, Blue being depressed and unable to let go of anything regarding her, essentially being a hoarder, while Yellow is angry and wants to forget anything involving her, destroying any reminder to distract herself.

2023-06-16 17:26:07 +0000 UTCA fun fact I love to share about "What's the Use of Feeling Blue" - there's a moment near the end where Patti sings so forcefully she peaks the microphone! Not sure why it wasn't re-recorded but they cleverly covered it up by having Greg trip and fall, the foley makes it not as noticeable but it's still there. Sound engineers are bonkers smart and talented 👌
