My problem with the framing of this episode is that, as you said, Homeworld DOES shatter Gems (and I don't know why, but people forget that they do - even in this video, they talk about Jasper only using a destabiliser as if the Cluster isn't made up of millions of Crystal Gem shards). Bismuth was not wrong to want to shatter the Diamonds, even in real life very few people would see it as evil or wrong to execute the leaders of an enemy invasive army that had killed millions and used them for human experiments. The real problem is that she would not have stopped with the Diamonds, but the show frames it as "nobody [at all] deserves shattering", which...well, what does that make the Diamonds then?

The next coup,e episodes are going to be good season 4 is good but I think season 5 is great. And the movie is a favorite of mine. And future I wish lasted longer.

The thing I theorize with Garnet not seeing it coming has to do with that she sees thousands of possible futures! And she usually just chooses the ones that she deems most likely to occur. If she had full faith in Bismuth with no doubts in trusting her, it'd be unlikely for Garnet to rely on that future. She just didn't think it'd actually happen. Which to me just proves she obviously trusted Bismuth a lot, so that kinda sucks.

HomeWorld found a lot of different ways to punish the rebellion gems. The main one was corruption, but the less talked about one in the show even though technically we see it a lot is the gem mutants. Those mutants are formed from the shattered pieces of multiple gems, including crystal gems, the cluster actually has a lot of crystal gems in it Garnet said so in the episode where they found the mutants

Bismuth was what we call a "Radicalized Individual", a Person that devotes themselves to a cause and sees everyone that opposes that cause as evil and unthinking, that is why she has no problem with trying to Shatter other gems. In one single episode Bismuth became one of the most well-written characters of the entire show, she brings a really interesting and complex perspective to this whole conflict... That the Crystal Gems just like Homeworld has a lot of shadows and grey points within them It also tells us indirectly that Rose kept Many secrets, even to those who she considered her closest friends. With each passing episode we get farther and farther away from that Perfect and Majestic picture of Rose the show wanted us to believe at the beginning. It's for episodes like these why i think Season 3 is when this series peaked in Quality. And in regards to what Bismuth was proposing.... While i can't say i agree with her on using the Breaking Point against every gem that opposes them.... I ABSOLUTELY believe that she is justified in trying to use it specifically against the Diamonds, let's not forget that they approved the creation of The Cluster (which is a Gigantic Geo-weapon made of millions of broken shards of dead gems). Also.... It always makes me laugh how a lot of people who love this show are completely radicalized progresists who go on the internet cancelling and demonizing everyone who doesn't believe in their philosophy..... Which is exactly the same type of person that the show it's depicting and criticizing in this episode with Bismuth xddd.

Nonono, there's a season 5 after 4, season 5 isn't just on Hulu. Season 5 is on Hbo Max as well as, Steven Universe the Movie and Steven Universe future. So once you guys finish season 4, you'll have to switch over to Hbo Max for season 5.

Oooh, ngl, so much happens during season 3& 4 that I forgot about Bismuth ^^; It's a great episode and it gives a good insight to the crystal gems past and how other gems felt about Rose. But there is a lot of bigger plot points that come after that. And since Bismuth was re-bubbled pretty quickly it's easy to overlook in the grand scheme of the show. Maybe that's why there were no Bismuth spoilers or comments, just a guess though.

Garnet cannot see literal visions of the actual future. Her power is more like super fast analyzing of different possibilities, based on her own perspective. If she really trusts someone and thus doesn't look into them, she won't notice anything suspicious.

Good catch with remembering a Bismuth-like design in an earlier episode, Erik! She was indeed the very Gem who poofed Lapis when she accidentally ended up in the middle of the war, further showing her aggression as Lapis was just standing there and did not intend to attack anyone. But the creators have confirmed neither of them remembers each other, because it happened in such a quick moment.

Bismuth is 100% my favorite Gem. This episode alone gave one character so much characterization, so much lore, upgrades, life lessons, jokes, and deep emotions. What an excellent episode to have be double length. And Boom, you mentioned how it felt like a movie, well there is one and imagine what they can do with that amount of time!

S4 was originally meant to contain both S4 and 5 but then it was split. So, S4 is literally meant to serve as the buildup to the second half of the season (now S5) - so it makes sense that it's not really a "favorite" season...but it's needed to understand all of S5. And, tbh, there are some EXCELLENT episodes, and a story arc I'm pretty excited for you to see. (There's another double episode in S4 "Gem Harvest" and another in S5, and the series finale in S5 is a monster quad episode. FYI lol)

I think this is getting into all the weird scattered air times and long breaks between episodes while CN was trying to kill this show off. Pretty sure they sort of made up their own organization for seasons by the time streaming was a thing. Looking at the episodes you've got left, you need to finish all 5 seasons, then the movie, and end with Future.

Remember, Garnet sees possible timelines, not the "true" future, she just bases it on what she think is most probable. She had no reason to belive Bismuth did all that, so she probably just counted it as a wacky 0.1% timeline

Yes, you have seen that character before she was in season 3 episode 3 same old world was lapis was talking about the war that is the same bismuth as in this episode and just to make it clear. They do not know each other, so bismuth was just hitting gems, so she didn't know lapis was just a regular gem not a home gem, I hope that clears up.

If I recall correctly, season 4 was really, really, really drawn out by CN's hecked up release schedule for it, and it's when people started to get really tired of it and took it out on SU. So that may explain the lack of hype for it. Plenty of plot happens, but there's also townie episodes that felt like torture for fans watching it as it released (nothing like waiting months for a plot only to find it's not going to be furthered for another mysterious number of months)
