2023-05-15 07:48:31 +0000 UTCI think one main takeaway from Catra's choice to stay with the horde is the betrayal, her saying that she and adora have "always had each other so who cares what they do to us" then pair that with Adora spending a couple hours with the enemy and choosing to leave with or without Catra is pretty hurtful. Also we see Catra being treated far worse than Adora so ofc she knows they're the bad guys.

Gumball is outperforming She-Ra in views on both YouTube and Patreon by A LOT. GumBall also has way more episodes than She-Ra does. We will not be dropping nor taking content away from a higher performing series and giving it to a lower performing series just because a handful of people are badgering us about it.

The only reason it makes sense is because its what you personally want even though both the YT & Patreon polls have shown us as well as the views of both series on YT & Patreon more people want Gumball. We understand y’all want double eps for this, but we’re never going to remove more of the higher performing series to give more to the lower performing series. You haven’t been toxic in the way you asked btw unfortunately there has been a lot of people being toxic when asking for the same thing. I think that’s more what Gavin meant if I’m not mistaken.

2023-05-08 02:05:57 +0000 UTCAt the end of the day we do look at stats and pay attention to analytics because we need too or the channel would eventually fizzle out and die. But we make our decisions on a variety of factors. Do we actually like and enjoy it, is it doing well on YT and patreon, how’s the community? Are they toxic, are they positive? Do we want to personally engage with them or no? For perspective Gumball hit about 20k or so in that first day which is very good for the channel when it comes to episodes. Oshi no Ko which hit about 30k+ and is currently at 46k+ we dropped because of the community. We liked the series fine enough, didn’t love it but liked it enough to keep watching. It obviously did EXTREMELY well. But the community was filled with a lot of people excusing straight up ped_____ and being extremely toxic and obviously we are just not cool with that at all so because we don’t want that type of community we dropped the show and haven’t looked back. Now we have gotten some bad apples for she-ra don’t get me wrong (no where near the levels of oshi) but it’s not bad enough that we’d drop it or anything, at least not currently. The best thing y’all can do is just be a positive force in the community. Don’t be toxic, don’t attack other fandoms. We’re all here because of our love for these types of series and media and we all want a welcoming and chill community. We look at a lot and of course we won’t always make the decisions every single person wants, but we do consider a ton of factors and try to make the best decision for everyone, us and the channel. So from a technical perspective yes not clicking our videos on YT /watching them does hurt the channel over all. However, it’s a very minuscule amount. For perspective some of our best series get about maybe 1000 patreon views (that’s pushing it and probably inflated by people sharing links) a series like She-Ra which is a more middle of the road series for us is getting like maybe 500-600 views or maybe less. That amount of views won’t cause she-ra to underperform. For example, she-ra is currently at about 9.1k views after 12 hours. If everyone who watched our patreon she-ra vid watched the YT vid as well it still wouldn’t break 10k. So it’s a very small percentage overall. Now of course we would never complain about y’all showing support by watching the YT videos but we understand it doesn’t make sense for y’all too since you get the full uncut experience here. Showing support here on patreon is the best way to show us y’all care and want it. Comments are big, liking the post & honestly just being a positive force in the community.

Patreon is obviously important as at the end of the day y’all are what help keep the mics and lights on. However, that being said people will always fall off of patreon each month. Depending on the series we finish, the financial situation of the world, etc… will fluctuate that number. The only way to realistically stay afloat especially as a multi person company is to ensure that we are gaining new members faster than we lose old members. That’s done by YouTube since there’s an algorithm that allows people to discover our content/channel for free. So we weigh both options, where She-Ra was second in our patreon poll on YouTube She-Ra was third but it wasn’t even close. Gumball and Regular Show DESTROYED she-ra in the polls. But because we saw y’all on here wanted She-ra we went with gumball and she-ra instead of Gumball and Regular show. Even though GB & RS would have both outperformed She-Ra. For example, YouTube has a 1/10 system where it congratulates you & will push your videos more the more you get 1/10’s and obviously higher performing series. Where as if you get lower performing series they will hurt the channel and YT will generally push your videos less. Gumball was a 1/10 when it went out where She-Ra is currently a 6/10. Also generally speaking a series Episode 1 does better than the proceeding episodes (except for very specific series & situations). So basically the reason we’re doing She-Ra over Regular Show even though Regular Show would do better is thanks to patreon subs requesting and showing support. Not the people attacking gumball & it’s fanbase because it beat she-ra, if anything that pushes us away from stuff.

Catra definitely did not make the best decisions here, and she definitely doesn't have a problem with all the evil the Horde does--she just wants to be with Adora side-by-side taking on the world and such. She's a favorite character of mine. I'm just shocked that a lot of people think Character Does Bad Things = Bad Character? I LOVE it when a character is so determined in their Bad Decisions. It's all about charm and complexity to me, and Catra is super charming and...well, you'll see the complexity across the seasons.

If they feel xyz about any of these characters now that doesn’t mean they’ll feel the same a few episodes later. I hate to rant but I hate how rewatchers do this to nearly every person online and irl when they get into a new show/game/movie/book🥴. Watching others come to their own informed conclusion organically is fun, and the NNA crew are smart enough to pick up what ND and co. are puttin' down. The writing in this series is good for shifting perspectives over time and frankly, I'm just having a good time watching (-and Dreaming of when this becomes a silver tier series). *I'm a furry so my opinion comes from, and can go straight to, hell. Which is in southern Michigan, just west of the Fright Zone (AKA, Detroit). And if you end up there, which lets face it we all will, be sure to book in advance at the local Hazbin Hotel. I'm dead serious about the place, by-the-by, it's almost perfectly between the I-94 and I-96.

They are raised with these ideas of what the world is. Even Hordak himself, arguably (and oh boy I'm not ready for THAT war in the comments). It's not something you see a lot of in cartoons either, which might be part of the reason why a lot of people try to fit them into these boxes.

Super underrated. Not to say later seasons are bad, cuz I think the show keeps pretty consistent quality throughout and the later seasons definitely have some major high points. But season 1 deserves more credit than it gets.

2023-05-07 18:12:52 +0000 UTCThe reboot is using all of the names from the original toylines, comics, and shows from the 80s, so that's why so many people, place, and concept names are so on the nose, haha. In the characters' defense, they don't have our third person perspective to know just how obviously evil it all is, especially anyone raised within the Horde. Like, take the word "waterfall" - unless you have someone point it out or happen to sit and think about it, most native English speakers wouldn't notice how direct/funny it is as a word for "a cascade of water falling from a height, formed when a river or stream flows over a precipice or steep incline" lol. As for Catra, coming from the experience of growing up in an abusive family, you really don't know just how bad or abnormal some things are until you get out. I'm in my late 20s now, but it took me years after leaving home to realize how I still had some learned toxicity from my parents, and how I have to consciously work to mitigate it when I still feel it rear its head. From Catra's perspective, Adora is just now realizing that Shadow Weaver is 'bad" because she lies to them, manipulates them, plays favorites, etc. But Catra still only sees it from the surface level, as a parental/authority figure being shitty to them, and not as a it being one part of a horrible empire. She doesn't know hurting people to get them to listen isn't okay in general. This has been their whole life, and Adora has been her only real connection and safe haven, so Adora deciding to leave after less than a day apart from her cuts deep. Obvi the show will continue to dig into these characters and the arcs, but things get worse before they get better and I'm excited for y'all to see it!

Like most of the shows I watch on here, I don't typically watch when it gets to youtube because yep, already watched the whole uncut thing weeks prior on here, but is that hurting the reactions on the Patreon? Are the survival ratings more for the YT numbers than these ones? I would think it would be opposite because people are paying for tiers on Patreon, but if the Youtube algorithm is where the real power's at that keeps the channel afloat, should we be clicking on those too to boost support?

I actually went back and double checked and episode 2 definatelty has the opening. Though I think it has the longer opening with all the Dreamworks logo. I think from Epiosde 3 it starts with the opening. Maybe that's why a lot of people skip it. Maybe they think its jusg logos.

Catra's reasoning is that once they are in power in the Horde they can do whatever they want. Also you have to understand she has no reason to care about Brightmoon and their civilians.
