2023-04-26 19:01:41 +0000 UTCI remember hearing the story that the original pitch of the show was literally going to be about rejected cartoons in school, CN liked the idea of the mixed animation but wasn't sure about the premise (maybe not sure if the longevity of it) so the creator retooled it into a more sitcom style show

2023-04-26 18:31:28 +0000 UTCIf this show feels like a discordant gumbo of madness (it does in the best way, imo), it may be because the creator based many characters off of rejected characters from his previous commercial work and put a family life/school life spin on the basic premise. This all ties into the show in a more meta way than you'd think. :3c

2023-04-26 18:23:51 +0000 UTCI would say that that TAWOG is better than AT humor-wise since Gumball jokes land way better and way more frequently than AT jokes, but I would say that AT is stronger story-wise. They're two different genres trying to be two different things so I don't think it's super fair to compare them as saying one is better than the other. One may be doing the long jump and the other may be doing track and field.

The variant art styles are unique and a lot of fun even if it's jarring, Mom's cool, my brain's trying to catch up with the rest. It's not non-sequitur humour, but I legit can't describe it. I'll keep watching along, see if I can absorb exactly what's going on. I have no opinion other than my brain is mush, and I feel remarkably old.
