But the plot gets kinda dark at times, and there is way too much fan service ( way too much for me) for it to be just for little, little kids.

For a fandom to openly say "Yeah it's kinda crap but also I'm addicted to it" The overall plot is great, but it's very slow and repetitive for the first like 4 seasons so I feel like if you didn't watch it from the start it'd be kinda meh to keep up with. I only keep up with it bc I invested so much time into it that I need it to resolve so I can have that satisfaction xD

2023-04-13 01:02:20 +0000 UTCThe reason shows like TOH and Amphibia have like those "First season being silly kid friendly kinda slow episodes" is because Disney is very out of touch with what audiences want-- they don't care about that, all they care about is having shows they can put on repeat out of order and for any kid to be able to pick up what is going on when they turn on the TV. I actually like the slow S1 episodes, they're slow yeah, but I think the pay off is great!! Plus when I re-watch them it brings me so much nostalgia and joy just watching them do silly little things that aren't plot relevant. You kinda just have to go along with the slow journey at the start to learn and care for the characters!! I do know that Dana Terrance didn't want to do the slow S1 kid friendly thing though, which explains why it's a bit faster in pacing and still plot relevant even though they're still silly kid-friendly adventures. But yeah, Disney cancelled TOH because of the LGBT content and I'm sure because of the darker tones that were coming in. (There was already parents complaining about witchcraft on Disney and it was insane seeing parents fighting on Twitter about the LGBT rep) It wasn't until Disney saw S3 Ep1 hit over 1M views on YouTube in less than a few hours that they realized they made a mistake in canceling the show. (Many fans had to illegally watch the show, so maybe they didn't realize how big it really was from the start.) Heck, the finale TOH got over 3M views on YT in just a few hours of its release!! They also screwed over Amphibia when True Colors came out because of the darker tones the show was taking since they end up not only "accidentally" leaking the episode, but delaying it for 2 weeks JUST to add a warning at the start and add the S3 intro at the end. Spoilers were already all over the place and hard to avoid. ANYWAYS!! Great reaction!! I enjoyed watching you guys watch the show, it means a lot to me!! I'm excited to see you guys watch the finale!!

There was news after they released the first episode of TOH S3 on YT that they did not realize how popular the show was until they saw the millions of views it got in the first 24 hours. I personally think the issue is the fact that many viewers don’t use cable anymore (myself included). A good portion of the fandom had to watch it illegally through various means because it took weeks to months for the show to be put on D+.

2023-04-12 19:50:50 +0000 UTCThis is one of the best Amphibia episodes, I love it so much, and the lead up to the finale is also great. My love for Darcy grows with every rewatch. Regarding the convo at the end, Amphibia and TOH are both highly demanded shows for Disney, but you're right that the audience is mostly teens/adults, and a lot of people only tune in to Disney Channel for their children. Hence why after TOH ends, they only plan to release shows similar to these on Disney plus as originals. They're still making TOH and Amphibia stuff in the shorts department and Matt Braly said the Marcy's journal sold VERY well to the point that they're going to try and greenlight more Amphibia content. So things like this will continue to happen if Disney just gives these shows a chance rather than trying hard to fit only the young children's attention spans and canceling them early. They should know by now that they have an audience of all ages.
