Race against Time introduces something new that shows up in later series but the later version is the same thing but they retconned it and changed some details. Destroy All Aliens provides some foreshadowing for a future element but that's it you don't need to see it. That's why the recommendations are so confusing. I say just they have elements worth watching but they are not required so it depends on you.
