If you are liking Dreamworks movies, I'd also recommend The Croods, Turbo and Mr. Peadbody and Sherman

When y'all were talking about adding in the comedy because parents would think it's too sad and serious for their kids, I had a random flashback to watching the Land Before Time as a kid, and I didn't get scared of the dinos fighting or running for their lives... I didn't cry at the obvious parts of that movie a kid should probably cry at... but then the got dang cherry scene made be bawl like a baby! 😅 Kid emotions are weird like that I guess?

Looks like Circuitdoodles said this already, but I gotta agree. The Secrets of the Furious Five shorts do give great insight for the five. It also adds depth to Tigress and Po’s relationship (as circuit said).I’d watch them before the third movie, regardless of if you record, if you’re able to! Loved this reaction; I remember seeing this in the theaters with my dad and he was sobbing like a baby with that last scene, haha!

There are kung fu panda shorts with backstories for the furious 5 that are pretty good. The one with Tigress gives insight to her and Po’s friendship.

I know this film would probably be a low demand one, but if you want to see Gary Oldman kill it as the villain in another film you should check out The Professional if you haven't already seen it.

I'd love to see you guys watch Everything Everywhere All at Once or Monsters University, one of the few movies to make me cry in the last decade or so.
And yes, Kung Fu Panda 2 is one of the few sequels where it's better or of equal enjoyment value as the first.
On the topic of unrelated films, some Japanese films like Water Boys, Shall We Dance, and Departures are wonderful live-action movies. And I know you guys probably dislike lists, but some other movies I think you might enjoy are the full version of The Thief and the Cobbler (not the disney version), The Last Mimzy, any of the Da Vinci Code films, and Mitchells vs the Machines
