(Silver) Avatar The Last Airbender Episode 13 REACTION

Comments

Can one be insane and be able to recognize that they're insane?

apple jacked

I absolutely CACKLED, I legit was KICKING MY FEET in glee at y’all being surprised the Blue Spirit was Zuko. I watched this when I was 13 so I can’t even remember if I knew or not, so it being a surprise was really fun! Also, I’m repeatedly stunned at how many of your predictions are right! And how many of them are completely dead wrong 🤣 y’all will love season 2 can’t wait for y’all to get there

Courtney

You guys are the second react channel I found that I just love every episode of avatar you guys put out. I know there's a lot of people out there but it's just something about you guys that really make me feel like I'm watching it over again

Jason Rodriguez

This show has so many incredible tiny details in it. At the end Zuko literally turns his back to his nation's flag before going to sleep after he just fought the firebenders and broke Aang out of one of their prisons. That's just great.

How fortuitous you post the next Avatar reactions on Avatar Day...the series premiered on TV 18 years ago today

Jimmy Wise

yall should watch She-ra and the Princesses of Power, i remember it being pretty good. honestly i want an excuse to rewatch it.

lethargic_god

Also don't do Iroh dirty like that, The Dragon of the West is not to be taken lightly.

Thine Tiny Equine

Eric: Proceeds to throw Zuko under a bus. Zuko: And I took that personally.

Thine Tiny Equine

My dude. Relax. They've seen the list. There is no need to keep reposting this. This is like 10 years' worth of reactions, too.

rrrebo

This is becoming spammy

I will preface this comment with the fact that I'm pretty sure it's left unspoken (for the most part) WHY Zuko did these things during the events of this episode. The show kinda directly tells you exactly why Zuko saved Aang. "How, Uncle? With Zhao's resources, it's just a matter of time before he captures the Avatar. (...) My honor, my throne, my country, I'm about to lose them all." Zuko very much is terrified of losing his perceived "only chance" to go back to his old life. If Zhao gets Aang, it's game over for him. So in his way of thinking, if he saves Aang and frees him, He can continue trying to catch him. Zuko wouldn't kill Aang after saving him, because like Zhao mentioned, that would start the cycle over again. He also wouldn't keep Aang himself, because Zhao understands the Avatar was saved, and if Zuko shows up suddenly with him, Zhao has proof it was Zuko who "betrayed the Fire Nation". Thus, the Blue Spirit. Fun Fact! The Blue Spirit mask is a theatre mask originally from the Earth Kingdom. Zuko's mom was extremely into the Theatre arts, and it is vaguely implied that Zuko is too, and that he kept this mask from her collection. Another fun fact: This episode was written initially as a somewhat season finale! Back when Avatar was still being made, Nick only ordered 13 episodes. As a kid I specifically remember this episode rerunning for quite some time before finally new episodes dropped. To put it into perspective: Episode 13 (The Blue Spirit) aired June 15th, 2005. We didn't get Episode 14 (The Fortuneteller) until September 23rd, 2005. Hiatus' back then (as far as I remember) were not super common!

Thank you for the detailed explanation it's very appreciated! This shows lore and depictions of different cultures is just so chefs kiss its hard to explain it in one comment. Edit: is hard for me to describe it in one comment

Obsidianfox

It's actually more of a mix. The fire nation has a cultural similiarity to Imperial Japan, but a lot of Chinese and SE Asain architecture, while the Earth Kingdom has a mix of Korean and Chinese architecture depending on location. Edit:Spelling

Just as mentioned, here is the list of recommendations again. I would like you guys to react to them if you havent seen them already. yaaasss I'm so excited

Obsidianfox

this is such a fantastic episode, i always forget it's this early on

floralstone

Like when *redacted foe S2 spoilers* appears

Jimmy Wise

Thank you!

Obsidianfox

A mix of Tibetan and Shaolin Monks

Jimmy Wise

Zuko may not be the most OP firebender, but he is by far the best damn ninja in the Fire Nation. Love the 'will he/won't he' discussions on where his character arc will go, he is one of the most complex characters in the series.

Seraphem

I love how this shows that non benders are still a very real threat.

Obsidianfox

so fun fact is all the nation's are based off of different Asian cultures. Fire Nation is based off Japan, the Earth Kingdom is based off China, Water-benders are Native/Innuit tribes and the Air-benders are based off Monks (I forget which ones)

Obsidianfox

Something to be noted is that the Yu Yan archers are insanely precise regardless, BUT to be such accurate archers during an entire windstorm is unfathomable. Incredible talent.

Pixie

Zuko gets more focus in book 2
