*Could* have doesn't mean he definitely would have. It's still very unlikely; he had no firebending training *at all* at that point, and you have to remember that the Fire Nation soldiers were all boosted by the comet. The Avatar State is no guarantee of success at all: hence what happened at the end of Book Two. And he had considerably more experience and training at that point than a century prior.

And "I'm too young to die!" "I'm not, but I still don't wanna!" is one of my favorite jokes to this day.

Every tribe has its own tests. Interestingly, sometimes it's figured out because an Avatar starts bending a second element by accident when they start learning.

2023-02-14 19:25:52 +0000 UTCThe joints thing is kind of real. It has to do with sensing changes in air pressure, there's not really a consensus on how well it works as it's really subjective. Some people claim the same feeling with bone injuries as well. I can't feel storms but I've broken my humorous and it pops when the weather gets cold.
