Maximum Capacity made me hate Amethyst, and I’ve never been able to enjoy her even with all the arcs she gets after this. I know she’s “traumatized” and grieving, but her TAUNTING Greg by shapeshifting into Rose is so disgusting and despicable. I understand the writers were trying to address their complex relationship but that’s just an insane low. She doesn’t even say “I’m sorry.” Idk maybe it’s because I always felt neutral on Amethyst and I really adore Greg that I feel this way, but Amethyst is toxic and abusive in this episode and I really can’t stand her.

2023-02-11 03:00:09 +0000 UTCWhat's implied in Maximun Capacity is that Greg and Amethyst used to hang out often (she says this herself) but after Rose started dating Greg he didn't pay much attention to Amethyst. Then the whole deal with Rose giving up her form to give birth to Steven happened and both Greg and Amethyst ended up very emotionally damaged, they liked each other but they both loved Rose (Greg romantically and Amethyst probably as a mother figure). so a while after Steven was born they started hanging out again and watching the Lil' Buttler show... and it is implied (thou not confirmed) that their relationship got a little bit more... intimate, i say this because of the "i've seen your junk" comment from Amethyst. Anyway... the rest after that point is pretty obvious.... they kept watching the Lil' Buttler show non-stop until Greg finally realized that he had more important things to do but Amethyst didn't want him to go... probably because watching that show with him was a way for both to hang out again... but also because it served as an emotional confort zone for her. At least that's my interpretation of what happened.
