this episode is one of many episodes that will have titles that will spoil the episodes, especially in season 3 so i would recommend trying to avoid it

2023-01-05 07:09:38 +0000 UTCNo spoilers in this post. To answer your big question by the end, Ben can no longer become Ghostfreak by the end of the episode. Due to how Ectonurites (his alien species) work, he was conscious and trapped even though he was just a DNA sample. To mitigate his weakness to strong UV rays, the sample was (somehow) given a second skin to protect him which is what gave him his bedsheet ghost-like appearance.

2023-01-02 23:16:22 +0000 UTCGhost Freak breaking free is duE to his species, the ectonurites, in particular, and how they only need a few strands of DNA to be conscious. Also, if you check back with season 1 at episode 5 "Hunted" and episode 9 "Last Laugh," Ben notes he feels weird after going ghost freak.
