No, it is not even close to the same story, but a lot of people dismissed it unfairly (and the Nickelodeon really just dropped the ball on this thing), but while there is a lot of humor, it only makes the serious plot stuff hit that much harder when it does. Plus, I think the humor is great on it's own, but there IS a pay off waiting to happen, just as Gravity Falls, Owl House and Amphibia start off innocent enough but have way more prepped towards an end game. Buckle up boys. It'll be a incredible ride.

2022-10-29 19:19:46 +0000 UTCSo excited to see this reaction, and cant wait to see future ones! ROTTMNT has become one of my favorite shows, and unfortunately there isn't a lot of reactions to it! Things of note: 1. Rise specifically, as you hypothesized and someone else in the comments mentioned, takes place BEFORE they are the superhero team known in most tmnt series. To show this, they made the characters younger and more inexperienced, and like mentioned, Raph is the leader, not Leo, specifically because he is the eldest. 2. Speaking of which, the ages! Mikey is the youngest at roughly 13 years old, I believe Donnie and Leo are 14, while Raph is 15. So they are VERY young teens for the most part, and this reflects on their maturity. 3. The show does take a more comedic route, purely because unfortunately that is what cartoons have to do now adays. They aren't really allowed to be serious and plot heavy, so a lot of the episodes are more... slice of life/bad guy of the week stuff. 4. And on Ben Schwartz, as you guys mentioned, he voices Leo, as well as Dewey from Ducktales and Sonic from... Sonic. Basically Bem Schwartz has admitted he wants to voice every important "blue guy in cartoons" if they ever have remakes and new installments. So far he's done those three!
