July Dev-cycle Review - Roadmap and Schedule Restructures
Added 2023-07-03 20:00:28 +0000 UTCIt's the end of the dev-cycle, so it's time to see what works and doesn't!
Here are a couple major restructures.
TLDR:
- Final cinema tape goes first,
- Barebones-boss (no art) for Nov 30 release,
- Companion posts are combined into one,
- Public releases are at the end of the dev-cycle.
Dev-Cycle
Month --- Plan
- July - Final cinema tape
- August - Final cinema tape - (August 31 release, no boss)
- September - Final cinema tape refinements
- October - Boss Implementation
- November - Boss Implementation + Testing (November 30, barebones boss, no boss art.)
- December - Boss Testing / Start of boss art assets / General Sound Design (Train, Ambiance, etc)
Rescheduled Cinema Tape before Boss
Looking at the schedule, the boss would not be ready for a September release (Aug 31), so the final cinema tape will be prioritized first.
This at least completes all the cinema tapes (and the accompanying achievement). No more missing tapes!
Expectations for Barebones-Boss in November 30
Since the cinema tape will start first, the boss will have another dev-cycle for the art.
It will follow the same process as before: Mechanics before the art.
This means there will be no art for the boss for the November 30 release. The art will worked on during the next dev-cycle (for April release). For now, expect hitboxes and newspapers.
Both the cinema tape and the no-art boss will be interactable through the Big Computer.
Combining Companion Posts
Found that I'm more consistent when the art is done in a similar time frame.
Both Day 15 and Day 30 posts will be combined into one companion post. Same content, just delivered once.
The companion post will released in-between Days 23 - 26.
(It's also not really a companion post anymore. It's more of... an art post.)
Public releases
Public releases will be after the end of dev-cycles.
The current public version will be released sometime in July. Next public release is on May next year.
The game release will still be free.
That's it for the review! Not much changed aside from the cinema tape prioritization and combining posts.
