I was a doll stylist!
Added 2024-05-30 13:20:17 +0000 UTCHI! I have never shown you work I did in 2019 for an Italian toy company called Giochi Preziosi. I was a stylist and designer for the outfits of the Tanya doll, the Italian Barbie: Tanya.
These are the concepts made with pen and markers, I can't show you the final drawing because I created it digitally on the model of the doll which is a template protected by "industrial secrecy". I was paid well for this work and it could have been the start of an ongoing collaboration but in 2020 the pandemic broke out and the company stopped.
At the moment there is no room for new hires because the toy market came to an abrupt halt and now it's not doing very well in Italy. So it is no longer assumed, and what's more, now I know that they use AI for ideas :(
I was able to see Tanya pregnant XD in Milan in a toy shop (but I didn't buy it) I've never seen the others made (or their clothes) because they didn't send them to me and I didn't have time to go look for it in the toys shops.
However, the company remembers me and I'm still in friendly contact with the artistic director, who tells me I had did a great job but unfortunately things aren't good enough to hire me.

The Italian Barbie, I never knew about that! Wonder how many countries have their own Barbie... Ouch! Two bad punches: Covid and the AI. Darn. But at the same time, maybe it was for the best. I mean, what if you worked there, but then got laid off because of Covid or AI? I dunno, I've heared about designers getting laid off because of AI, would hate it if one of them were you. The heck? Pregnant? Darn. They teach the kids young these days. Well, good that you have a friendly ear in the industry, maybe they'll want someone to draw a Tanya comic one day. :P Well done again with the concepts. I get a bit lost when some of the text is writen in Italian and some in English, but some of the Italian I can understand anyway. :P
