A little more clarity about William.
Added 2024-04-22 15:47:17 +0000 UTCI'm working on the new page and the bios of three characters that will be published together soon, they are three members of William's family, so all his family's past will be narrated and explained so as not to return to it.
It was inevitable to tell the BKG of a protagonist who ran away from home, mysterious, who changes his name and identity, he had to have a family, they could have already died as in many stories set in 1800, it was sad anyway (you just don't see how).
The saddest part is over, William was little and didn't handle the moment very badly as a trauma, I mean, because from that day all the attention of many lovely people was turned to him, so you can now understand that he's a character who doesn't know how to manage emotions.
Yes, William doesn't know how to manage emotions, he is impulsive and his feelings annoy him, he avoids getting sentimental involved and reasoning.
The only thing he follows is a moral code of his own, confused.
He fights to survive and to have satisfaction, if he survives... he gets into trouble again.
Of course he appreciates Dorian's help but knows that it cannot be reciprocated (except in household chores) and at the first opportunity he runs away again to don't be a burden to him and get him in trouble too.
Does he have a goal? A purpose? For now it doesn't seem like it, but perhaps he's trying to accumulate money to repay someone and right wrongs.
Being someone who doesn't know how to manage emotions, money is now the only way for him to do something, and he looks for it quickly, through gambiling, and now (if you have read PBB Legacy) he is focused to the prize for his lady's marriage, because ... William has no time to waste.

It's interesting how the Legacy and PBB-Next versions handle William's intro very differently. o.o (There's obvious reasons for that like you stated in the past, Vanessa. But it is interesting from a reader's point of view. :) )In the Legacy version, William is introduced like a "low life" that is always on the run and is (like how Erold said it) a slapstick character. He's the butt of a lot of jokes from unfortunate events happening to him, from getting wacked to how he experienced sex for the first time. lol However in PBB-Next, his introduction is more......for a lack of a better word, down to earth. o.o Like yeah he has his comedy side still, but he isn't like typical MCs in a harem anime that has 80% comedy and 20% seriousness characteristics to him. In PBB-Next William has almost 60% seriousness to him and 40% comedy characteristics. :O If the next page is more backstory for Will, it'll be interesting to see what happens next. ^_^
