Update pag 65

Yesterday I told you about the maps, today I will explain the flags hanging on the walls. William's family has lived through very important historical events in Italy and in Europe. The Kingdom of Italy was the unified Italian state proclaimed on 17 March 1861. The proclamation followed the second war of Italian independence (1859), fought by the Kingdom of Sardinia against the Austrian Empire, and the Expedition of the Thousand (under the command of leader Giuseppe Garibaldi), with the conquest of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. The proclamation of the Kingdom represented the culmination of that cultural, political and social movement, as well as historical period, known as the "Risorgimento". The third Italian war of independence followed (1866) and the annexation of the Papal States, with the consequent capture of Rome (September 20, 1870).

However, the completion of the territorial unit only took place at the end of the First World War (July 1914) in November 1918, but we have not arrived at that moment, the current history of the PBB takes place in 1895!

The other flag is that of Abyssinia, I have told you about it several times, never going into specifics, but as you will have understood by now in Bon Bon there are breeds of animals, they are not humans, and the breeds of animals are linked to their country from. The Abyssinian cat is a feline breed originally from Ethiopia, also called Abyssinia, from which it takes its name.

So William is an Italian cat, born in Sicily from an Italian father, but his family tree has African roots. It is believed that it is a very ancient morphological type: the mummified remains of ancient Egyptian cats and the reproductions in the tomb frescoes were compared at the end of the 19th century with the cats living in Abyssinia, revealing a perfect resemblance, especially as regards the tonality golden-fawn of the coat and the dimensions. For this reason the opinion spread that today's Abyssinian breed is the direct descendant of the Egyptian felines.

I always remember that PBB's characters are animals, not humans, even though the story takes place in a universe very similar to ours. So think about animals origins.

But if in your imagination you wanted to imagine this story with human beings as protagonists, I've thought about it a few times, for me William's appearance would be with an athletic physiquee, green eyes and exotic skin, not black but skin darker than northern European, like a warm tanned, with thick, straight black hair and thick, well-defined eyebrows. And (as Wilson at least) he'd grow pencil mustache XD like him: https://i.pinimg.com/564x/4d/90/63/4d90634c12396a55f81f3ba6c35c6131.jpg

AH I almost forgot!!! Do you want to know what a CARRETTO is? This!

Ah here we go! So they have the flag of Two Sicilies. I suppose that might mean William's family were more loyal to the kingdom rather than entertaining the independence movement. Wonder how they feel about Italy... The big emigration has yet to start though. Territorial unit in 1918... Well, at that time, I think Dalmatia and Malta among other lands were on the mind of many Italian politicians. Although lets not get into that. So William has indeed Ethiopian ancestry! It's interesting, how you've mixed human history with the different animal breeds and species. Does that mean Dalmatians are from Dalmatia? Wonder if they think of themselves as more Italians or Croats... Ok, that's enough politics I think. Oh darn this page... Antonio got the shotgun! Oh this could be bad! Oh, by the way, I love the ceramics :) They're so colourful and decorated. I also like how Farah breathes a little sigh of relife when the mood changes. I wish I could have a bigger resolution of the last panel, as I can't really appreciate all the little details right now. But damn this looks good! And I'm looking forward to the next page with great excitement! Good job, Vanessa :)
