Updates!

The new black and white page at 200 DPI as a tasty preview for the higher levels and two other pinups for the bios.

Let's start with those, in which we see Antonio, dressed in traditional Sicilian colothes that are worn during special occasions.

This Sunday, day on which the flashback takes place, is definitely one of them, probably something is being celebrated, because both he and all the others are dressed in traditional costumes, and not for work. I am attaching above some examples of this traditional male costume which is still worn during festivals and celebrations and even dances, like the TARANTELLA. You can choose to wear pom poms or a handkerchief around your neck, but they must be red.

And then finally we see Franco, the father, who died two years earlier.

I drew him in normal clothes, quite elegant, because he was the owner of the estate, and he enjoyed life. And his pose was thought out as if he were lovingly looking at one of his children, as if it were a memory.

Next job: coloring everything!

Now let's talk about the page ( same folder https://pleasurebonbon-next.com/rewards/pbb-next/wip/chapter-1/ )

As I told you in previous posts, I have been looking for a Sicilian location for a long time, I found this one in a magazine that I bought on newsstands in Italy. The magazine is from 2018 and is called La Casa di una Volta, it cost me €5 and I bought it because the cover says "Charm of Sicily"! XD So I found the article dedicated to Villa Badia. Last time I showed you photos taken online, but I only found them thanks to this magazine. I copied (not traced) the photo you see in the magazine, I show you which issue is, sold online which is sold out, and my internal pages. The perspective is different, more central, and I changed some furnishings. It was a long job but I wanted an authentic location... in case one day Netflix wants to do PBB live action LOL! XD

Thank you for the things you are allowing me to do, calmly and study.

In August I have to color and do the commissions booked, they are beautiful! Thank you!

V.

William's nationality has been present in the form of a clue in PBB Legacy since the first chapter. In one viglietta in particular he says he comes from a region rich in citrus fruits, talking to Simon about lemon in tea, and there are Italian flags, both on the suitcase and in the scene mentioned. But wait, it's not just that, there's one huge detail you haven't considered. What is William's race. It has always been said, William is an Abyssinian cat. I won't say any more. But if you knew the history of Italy, as I do, and I would like you to know it... you would know many things. When I was little, I read fin de siècle Italian and English literature. In the collective imaginary, when we talk about 1900, we always tend to imagine stories set in England or France... nobody ever thinks of Italy, yet we had a great story. However, great American directors think almost exclusively of London and Paris when they tell a Victorian story. From My Fair Lady to Mary Poppins. But we were there too! :D So I thought of telling something new and a little different, including my culture and my Country in a "Victorian" story, when there was the Kingdom of Italy, with our King, before my Country would become a Republic. For example, you will discover that in Italy there was the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, and you will bear in mind that under Sicily there is Africa, and Italy has always had cultural and commercial exchanges with Africa, although England was in the lead as colonization, but we are closer! XD Abyssinia was the ancient name of today's Ethiopia, the Abyssinian cat is a feline breed originating in Ethiopia, also called Abyssinia, from which it takes its name. So if you now think you know William's accent...no...you can't imagine XD I think no one can imagine, because he has been in contact with so many cultures during his childhood and youth. Furthermore, I never thought that in PBB there are different languages, because they are animals, and in my opinion animals all speak the same language. However, they have different accents, just like we Italians have different accents and words from region to region. I think you and everyone else, when you read the new bios, will understand why I chose William's race, why Sicily and why much more. And all the pieces will fit together. Not long now! ;)

I want to say that while I'm not able to see the B&W version of the next page, I am SO looking forward to it from what you've been describing and leaving hints on, Vanessa. :3 Plus.....that picture of Franco.....something about that picture is very powerful to me. :') It might be because that's what I see William going to be if he goes on the right path. Makes me even more excited to see him in color, Vanessa. ^-^

Oh look at that, Franco looks like a nice old man... Even if he never got to be that old :( Interesting people those Sicilians. They're a hardy folk, but got (and maybe gets) a lot of flak for just being Sicilian. I dunno why, but I really like Antonio's handkerchief, and especially the sash :) This makes me wonder, what languages does William speak? Now, I know this is a comic, so it's not really that relevant, but just for fun, he would speak Italian/Sicilian, and English as well if he lived in England. Perhaps he can speak a bit of French and/or German as well if he studied at Le Rosey... Although something tells me he gambled too much to learn anything. :P Still, if no one figured he was from Sicily, then suerly he must have an English accent... Now what kind? And another preview! Seems things deescalate, a little, until I saw what he has in his hand. What is that? A shotgun shell? Oh dear. I keep saying it, but one of the biggest appeals of PBB is the amount of detail you put into it. One can practically see the effort you put into your art, and it makes me appreciate them all the more.So reading about some of the background stuff of what goes into the art, makes me realize just how much effort you truly put into it :) For example, there's a telescope on the cabinet! Now just whos might that be? I'm a little suprised nothing's stuck in the rafters. With so many kids I would think there would be a ball or a doll or something in them... Or maybe that's just a modern way of thinking about things :P
