A BAD feedback
Added 2020-07-05 13:59:27 +0000 UTCDear Patrons , in a few minutes I will post the first update of July I must apologize if in June, in the last two weeks, I have had a drop.
Two factors determined it, the sudden heat, very strong in Italy, to which I was not used, but I started to get used to it, and a depression due to the first Patron who betrayed me and I meditated on it.
As you know I have told you many times that truth and trust is important to me, so if you need I can show you the screen of all my messages, e-mail etc ... but only to show you how much I have had care about this Patron. I'd do it for all of you.
He had purchased a Portfolio with an original Custom Sketch, for two months I have been proposing to those who bought the portfolio to also get a custom sketch to train commissions! :) Two went very well, I sent them and they were received, one in America and one in Germany. I came out of the house during the lockdown to make the prints and send, imagine the situation in Italy, I showed that I made a long line outside my post office because they only let 4 people in at a time.
The two patrons were very happy with their custom sketches and they told me that I will be able to show them to you, not before they receive them! :D So you'll see the first this month!

But Benjamin no.
Benjamin has done very badly. After purchasing the portfolio he didn't contact me and so I wrote to him 5 times. First to thank him and then to tell me which custom sketch subject he would like, then to let me have his address.
Benjamin never replied.
The penultimate week I started to worry about his health, since in the past a Patron, who had purchased a Custom Sketch Portfolio, had been sick, therefore, imagine during Covid-19 how worried I was about Benjamin!
I wrote him an email, from my personal email ( it's something I do in rare cases ), of which I have a copy, asking him to let me know if he was fine! The last week of June I was in a panic because if Benjamin hadn't replied, he risked automatically buying another portfolio, and for this reason I canceled the pledge, and I wrote it to him.
I did everything for Benjamin. A few days ago I found out that Benjamn had canceled his pledge but not only ... he took care to leave me a negative feedback with the following reasons:
- I was overcharged
- I didn’t receive the benefits/rewards described on the creator's Patreon page
Yes of course, the feedback is anonymous, but if you are the only Patron who paid for a Portfolio in June ... it is impossible that I don't know who he is!
How can you be overcharged if you click on such an exclusive tier, which is the maximum price? And how can you say that you didn't receive the reward at the same time? Decide it! If you expected it...you have not been overcharged.
Also is impossible to receive a portfolio with custom sketch in the same month, I live in Italy and it takes 2 or 3 weeks only for shipments, excluding that I would also have done the drawing and packaging.
But apart from these explanations, I wrote 5 messages and an email to Benjamin, during the month.
The thing that hurts me most is that last week I was anxious and afraid of not being able to reward Benjamin in time and that he was ill! he never wrote me back, but he had time to give me the negative feedback...
My last message to him: " If you had changed your mind, you could simply reply to my first message with "sorry, I was wrong, I didn't want to select the portfolio so I delete my pledge" and don't make me worry for a month, deceive myself ... I would have preferred an honest and sincere message . "
So, now I need some suggestions from you.
- Should I block Benjamin? But if I block it will private messages disappear? Because those are proof, I would like to keep them.
- Do you know if, if i have unfair feedback it can be canceled if I contact Patreon Staff and ask for a fix, by showing my messages to Benjamin?
- The negative feedback may afflict my reputation? I care about customer care!
- Would he deserve to be banned by patreon for this behavior?
Sorry for this outburst but if you are a creator I can give you the full name of Benjamin to avoid being screwed by him. Cuz nobody deserves to be fooled and deluded in this way.

I certainly care about customer service but also to my pride :) because I have been online for many years, I have been selling my furry works all over the world for 20 years now! I had a sort of depression and in that period I happened to make a refund because, after seeing the draft, the customer was no longer satisfied with the job and I could not go on. I felt unable to satisfy the customer. I did not realize that I can, indeed, I must, carry out the errands with my style, because that is what I offer and you should know it. And I don't want to underestimate myself anymore because a person ... has humiliated and deluded me for so many years that I didn't have a copyright, my trademark is my style, unique. I don't care if someone cancels a tier, it's a right, it was the non-fair behavior that destabilized me for a moment, but I preferred to open up with you and get advice :) because you're my patron. Thank you!! :)

And I know he couldn't say "I didn't get the emails" because Patreon sends people reminders though their emails letting them know that they got a message AND it also contains what the person said in the message (though Patreon's system). And (even worst case scenario) for him NOT to respond to your actual email is just....rude. :< Not to mention, if he really cared about getting the portfolio, I'm pretty sure he would of emailed you about it right as soon as he made the pledge. Agh.....I don't understand it either, Vanessa. DX Now to answer your suggestions, Vanessa: 1. I wouldn't block him because it that's too much of an extreme option to do right now. :o Now if he becomes your patron again and he starts sending you hate mail, death threats, and/or other nasty things THEN block his ass. And then report him to Patreon about his rude behavior (if he does that). Otherwise do what others have said and take screenshots of your interaction with him and save them. 2. I don't know about this one. o-o Though that's because I haven't heard any body (on Patreon) doing this before. However I would still recommend contacting Patreon's support team and ask them. Because it never hurts to ask. :) 3. I don't think the negative rating will effect your public reputation. :O However (if it works like eBay does), it will effect your internal reputation score with the Patreon company. @_@ And 4. Since he hasn't done anything extreme (yet), I wouldn't say ban him. :o However talking to the Patreon team about your situation with him, might put him on a list of people to watch out for (for both you and for the Patreon staffers in case he does this to any other Patreon members). And if he gets more flack from other creators he "supports", Patreon WILL ban him from the platform. I hope this information is helpful to you, Vanessa. :) And (again) I'm sorry that this happened to you. :'(

In this case I agree with Silvador, that perhaps this person is trying to get the artwork for free by making a complaint against you and will withdraw it for a refund. Please do not do this. Your work speaks for its self in its quality and scope. You have many followers and admirers of your work throughout the world. Do not let one selfish ignorant person bring you down or make you sad and depressed, turn this page of your life and read on, however leave the corner of the page turned down, so that you never forget the lesson it can teach you. You have an artist's soul and by its very nature is sensitive, do not let this incident darken your light. We know your worth and celebrate it. Take care and have a safe and peaceful journey through life.

I don't know about banning them, but, as others have said, take screenshots. That way, even if things get deleted by accident, you will have proof that you trIed. It's unfortunate, but, as your renown as an artist grows, there will inevitably be situations like this, for one reason or another. It's best not to dwell on them. You did your part and tried the best you could. If they do it a second time, then bring out the banhammer, and perhaps even report them to Patreon as a possible scammer.

Unlike Amazon or Ebay , only you can see your Patreon Exit Survey's And you don't have a feedback score that people can look at. It's true it can hurt to see people delete their pledge and leave reasons like that, but it's not your fault. You did EVERYTHING you possibly could , it's not your fault he didn't respond.

It seems to me, like he was trying to pull something. But then again, I may be wrong. I see the fault being on his end, not yours.
