I worked on a book as character and cover designer!

With the permission of the author and the publisher, I can share with you the drawings I made for the Italian book "Puppets Story" :D

The book is an encyclopedia on all the anthropomorphic puppets that have appeared on Italian TV, including foreigners  ( see Kermit The Frog in the pictures! ^-^ ) , from the 1950s to today. There are puppets that have appeared on TV shows, commercials, films and TV series, mascots of any kind and even suits! Any kind of puppet! :)

My job was to draw the mascot of the book, the Caciotta The Rabbit:

in two-dimensional style!

Caciotta is the character who meets all the puppets through a journey through time, on TV and with his camera he cataloged them for the book!

The book is only in Italian, this is the publisher's page: http://www.edizioniefesto.it/collane/de-ortibus-et-occasibus/361-pupazzi-story

so I thought to share with you Patrons all my drawings, which I think are the thing that interests you the most :)

I just read what you said to Silvador, Vanessa. :) And......WOWZERS! OoO That's FREAKING AMAZING!!!!!! :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD To see more video of you would be super cool! ^o^ And the fact that you and your fellow colleagues are going from the 1950's to the present to talk about anthropomorphic characters and mascots sounds like a blast! ヾ(@⌒▽⌒@)ノ If the videos ever come available, I (and your other Patreons) would enjoy watching them, Vanessa! (◠‿◠✿)

Nice! I can't say of the top of my head that I did know about Toppo Jijo (though it sounds familiar), but I'm very familiar with many Studio Nippon Animation anime of that time period. Fun fact, most of the very first anime imported to Poland after the fall of the Berlin Wall came from Italy. Such as General Daimos, Gigi la Trolotolla, or Mask of Zorro.

Thank you! Read my answer to silvador ;)

Yes, maybe it will remind you of the 1988 anime Toppo Jījo - Yume Miru Toppo Jījo :D dedicated to our most famous puppet Topo Gigio! :D Read my answer to silvador ;)

Thank you! And...the publisher is broadcasting a small show with me and other authors, I am speaking in Italian of this work, I have about 3 minutes for each episode to talk about anecdotes and curiosities about the characters of the book, being an expert on anthropomorphic characters and mascots. In fact, me and the other colleagues have been selected on the basis of our television culture and pop culture from the 1950s to today. The show traces every decade, in which I and my colleagues tell a personal story about the characters of the episode. For example ... Sunday there will be the episode in which the protagonist is Topo Gigio, the world-famous Italian mouse, who appeared in America at The Ed Sullivan Show and sold in Japan, where they made the anime. Last Sunday the first episode came out where instead I and the other authors explained our work as a fairy tale, I told how the idea of the cover was born, we all talked to the puppet Caciotta ... as in a show for children.

Vanessa San

Thanks a lot :D can you tell me a little more about this thing, if you don't mind? I would like to learn as much as possible from your culture, please.

Vanessa San

Ooo, Nice! Reminds me of 80s anime ^^

This is super cool, Vanessa! ^o^ You did a terrific job drawing the actual puppet into a very adorable 2D form. :D And the fact that the main character guides the reader thought the years of anthro puppets is really wicked. ^-^ Interesting enough....I have a feeling that a child one day will start drawing based upon seeing your art in this book, Vanessa. (▰˘◡˘▰) Thank you for sharing this with us again, Vanessa! ^o^

Looks great. Its nice that you got chosen to create the artwork for a mainstream book like that, great for you. In the US, it would be substantially harder for an artist to do that, unfortunately we like to typecast here. Bit of a more repressed and stuffy culture sometimes, at least from a political and corporate sense.

Look cool! It's great that you got to do this. :D
