Betty was created around 1993-94 but she has many changes before her version that I consider official, and that I started coloring thanks to the purchase of my Pantone markers!

This illustration is from the School Journal ( called Smemoranda, I had one too because it was the "must have" school diary of teenagers in the 90's in Italy!) of my friend Valentina, who sent me the photo. 

So yesterday I sent her this surprise and we chatted on Facebook remembering the times of high school and also talking about the situation of Covid-19 unfortunately, but my gift made her happy because we forgot the present for a few moments remembering the past.

I thanked her because she, and other classmate, were asking me for the drawings of my OCs on their diaries, supporting me in my dreams. 

I'm lucky because I had a fantastic high school experience, I can't lie, the 90s were fabulous for me, the 80s I was still a child and therefore another type of experience ... I was like a Stranger Things kid! LOL

I always feel sorry when I hear bullying stories in this modern era, because they have everything and infinite possibilities, so why do today's kids make their life complicated?

I did not have all these means available, I used to call my friends from a telephone booth, we wrote letters and postcards, and if someone had "status" to tell ... we did it at school and the comments were in words! 

My "status" were to tell jokes (believe it or not I was the comedian of my gang XD), talk about cartoons, comics, Japan and America (they were my dreams) and I organized parties (especially masquerades), picnics, and I was... the class officer! LOL XD 

In fact, I organized the trip to London, our first time in UK ( we loved it!) for all my class, with the itinerary. 

I remember that Valentina asked to visit Chinatown and I instead added to the list the visit to Sherlock Holmes's house at 221B Baker Streets. Fortunately I have photos! 

That year was 1995 and I was laying the foundation for PBB thanks to the support of my classmates who said to me "This will be your job! Keep going to follow this dream!!". In fact, I was the only one aspiring comic artist in my class... XD

Sorry if my posts are like diaries, but during the quarantine I feel the need to embrace my happy memories.

One last thing, tomorrow is my birthday, I will make an Italian dessert (my favorite) and show you photos of how I prepare it! It's called: Tiramisu, which in my language means "get me up!" ( in matter of spirit and energy!) XD
