Owl House Episode 17-19 REACTION

Comments

I find it curious the boiling Isles looks like a giant corpse there's a giant beating heart in the emperor's room maybe the emperor is the Titan and he's trying to gather all the magic he can to revive himself

Since y'all are looking for suggestion The DuckTales reboot is fantastic!

Only part of the way through the video but I think there might've been some confusion over the season stuff-- Owl House season two just ended last week. There was a mid-season hiatus that lasted a really long time. (Literally from August 2021-March 2022.) Season three is going to be three 45 minute specials that are I think going to be in like, October? Definitely a bit of a wait. Owl House got cancelled for "not fitting Disney's brand," and while that's ambiguous, the way Disney has treated the show has been... not great. Dana Terrace, like Luz, is bisexual, and talked about how upset she's been about Disney using her show to look good while doing things like monetarily supporting the "Don't Say Gay" bill, and Alex Hirsch, who is also Dana's long-term IRL partner, has talked a decent amount about how Disney's treated his girlfriend's show, and how they scrapped small any scraps of representation he tried to put in Gravity Falls. He's been pretty vocally critical of Disney on his twitter, and while Dana's had to historically be a bit more quiet about it because she's still a Disney employee, (moreso than Alex, who's just a VA rn,) she's also recently been like "Fuck it, I'm tired of how Disney uses my show while hurting my community and the queer people who work under them." Someone else mentioned the charity stream Dana did, which is a pretty brave thing to do for someone still working under Disney. It's been sort of painful as a queer fan myself to see how much this has hurt her. All this has led to speculation that the thing that "didn't suit Disney's brand" was the gay stuff, and even Dana has said that she didn't want to believe that but doesn't know what to think anymore. So... season two just ended, season three on the horizon, but incredibly shortened, possibly (and I would even say likely) because of corporate homophobia. All that being said, season 2 is great, and while there are plotlines Dana and the crew have said they wished they had more time to explore, they also said that they believe they've crafted a great ending, and I trust them. So... yeah, the seasons, their release dates and length have all been a mess because Disney as a corporation is a mess, and this show deserved a better network, but season three should air this year and I do believe in the team, even if Disney didn't. Oh, and if you're looking for a new show to react to, and you don't wanna hear Amphibia again, which I'm sure has already been suggested, I second Over the Garden Wall! You guys would love it and it's a fun, quick watch. Might wanna wait for October for that one though.

Season 1 of The Owl House is good, but season 2 is where things really start to take off! Looking forward to seeing what you guys think! As far as the extra content goes, the Owl Pellets can be watched at any time. They're just quick little shorts, no spoilers or anything. When you get mid-way through season 2 (where they broke it up into 2a/2b), there are some audio recordings that the voice actors of Luz, Lilith, and an upcoming season 2 character did for Dana Terrace's "Be Gay Do Witchraft" charity stream. I highly recommend those, but you'd definitely have to wait until after season 2a to avoid spoilers!

I love season 1, it gives me so much serotonin every time I rewatch. But season 2 blasts season 1's ass out of the water and it's not even close. Similar paradigm with Amphibia. For both shows, season 1 was "let's establish our show and get renewed for a second season" and season 2 was "let's see how insane we can get before someone stops us"

You guys should totally react to Over The Garden Wall!

zimXzombie

Can't remember if you guys asked for suggestions on this one but I just remembered Final Space is another fantastic show to react to

S2 is definitely great! I love it and you guys aren't ready. I'm excited you guys are gonna watch amphibia, it's definitely a really fun show that gets serious later on. Both of these shows are a great time!
