Gravity Falls S2 Episode 15-17 REACTION

Comments

It was Mabel's fault. Let's not blame our family and ancestors for shit you can actually control. If Mabel was just happy for Dipper getting an opportunity of a lifetime, then she wouldn't have even been out there in the first place. Like this shouldn't even be a debate. Mabel was in the wrong and Bill used her flaws to get the rift thingy. The same thing happened to Dipper and Ford! Bill just knows how to manipulate people. Defending Mabel will just make her not own up to her mistakes. Every character in this series has flaws and it's great! It just so happens Mabelwas the one being used to open this rift. Also love the parallel between what happened to Ford and Stan with Dipper and Mabel. Stan cost Ford his dream school and Mabel cost Dipper... his reality I guess. HAHAHA

Nah I’m sorry was Mabel wrong in giving away something that belonged to her brother to a stranger yes but let’s talk about who’s fault literally all of this was it’s literally Fords fault it’s been for its fault since he let his family kick his brother out of the house for something that was an accident honestly if Mabel knew what it was I don’t think she would’ve handed it over to anybody

JRax 17

Duuuuudes, Mabel has NO IDEA what that rift thing is and has no reason not to at least hear Blendin out. If Ford wasn’t so dead set on keeping it a secret from his family, Mabel would have known to be extra cautious. This is like, one of Mabel’s most innocent mistakes, and Bill used every perfect opportunity to trick Mabel, like he’s always aught to do

Clumsy

I am probably the last to notice this but Grunkle Ford sounds like the same voice actor as Omni man from Invincible

Ben Asay

Damn right

God of smite

she just punched a tree while grenda smashed a giant rock on her head

iron pirate76

they split the last part in two episodes on disney+

alex.

When you say "what are the chances of that" when Mabel punched the bird it reminded me of when my brother threw a super bouncy ball™ as hard as he could on the ground and hit a bird out of the sky 😂

Obsidianfox

its only 3 episodes the end of the world arc started with this ep then its a 3 parter to end the show

vincent santangelo

its a harry potter reference. owl house came out years after GF ended

vincent santangelo

Please react to Steven universe after you guys finish gravity Falls

That is a great and valid point about how Dipper has given away some of Mabel's. It's interesting how people tend to compare their selfishness like it's a tally when that's the exact thing that Bill preyed on with Dipper and Ford, pointing to the hubris of doing things like keeping score. In Universe are they working to save the world? Yes, but they also both have immense Hero/Special One complexes that drive it. I'd actually say Mabel is more mature in this because she doesn't care about it unless it is something that actually needs to be acted on and only wants to live a fun life as a kid with her friends and family. She doesn't have illusions of grandeur and fame like Dipper/Ford. She's more like Stan, caring much more about family and togetherness. Not to say she's perfect, but the twins definitely each have faults and positives that balance the other out.

To be fair, Mabel giving Bill the rift was partially Ford's fault. Granted, it wasn't right of her to give away something of Ford's, but she didn't know what it was and Blendin told her it was something small that he wouldn't notice was gone. Ford has had a trust complex after what Stan did (accidentally, though Ford didn't seem to give a damn) and only opened up to Dipper because they were similar. And although it wasn't intentional, he's kind of been sewing the same thing into Dipper. Don't trust anyone, only count on yourself. If Ford had been transparent and trusting and told the whole family about the rift and the consequences of it falling into the wrong hands, I don't think Mabel would have handed it over, just like she didn't give Bill journal 3 when she knew what it was and what it meant to Dipper. Dipper trust Mabel in the first episode to show her the journal. Ford trusted her to help by getting the unicorn hair and such, but only because it was a means to an end and could have explained more but didn't divulge key information. So I don't place the blame squarely on Mabel. Plus, she IS only 12. XD

Avatar reactions im jus saying follow a master class kids show with another master class kids show

logan

The limited edition third journal definitely doesn't have secrets lol

Logical Vibes

"There might be some fun stuff in the book I ordered or something" oh boy

Wavpro

I have two 13 year old kids. 12 year olds are idiots.

William Timmins

I see both sides and I think both siblings are equally selfish/self-less. If Mabel had known what the rift was, I don't think she would have made that exchange. That was Dipper and Ford's mistake. Dipper is following in Ford's footsteps right now and we know how Stan/Ford turned out. If Ford had let Stan in on things and Dipper had told Mabel stuff.... none of this would have happened.

Alice Lapin

All the emotional turbulence aside, she absolutely should not have just *given* something away that appeared to be Dipper’s, and Ford should have told the family about the rift, especially when accounting that (1) they all already know about the portal, and (2) Mabel knows Bill is a serious threat. She immediately realizes her mistake when Bill reveals himself, she trusted ‘Blendin’, she knows to never trust Bill.

Pixie

Some good news regarding Dipper and Pacifica, there is the lost legends comic book, which is 100% canon and there is a lot in there. Also, part of me hopes you guys react to both the comic and Journal 3.

DementisXYZ

and ofc bill comes in and asks mabel for the rift when she's super emotional, alone and probs most vulnerable? and who has no idea what the rift does or what its for oof

florence

***an apology for how fucking long this message ended up being*** I think one thing to point out is that Ford is definitely partly to blame for how things turned out like him projecting his issues with stan onto dipper and mabel, telling dipper not to tell mabel about the rift and what they talk about/are doing. Like before dipper would confide in mabel about everything going on and how even though in gravity falls there is "no one you can trust" he knew he could trust/count on mabel, he literally says that in the first episode, and ford just kinda ruined that bc he just doesn't get their relationship bc of him and stan, like if mabel knew what the rift was and what bill was planning she wouldn't have just given it away yk but also yes mabel is pretty selfish a lot of the time (and ig most of the time it's just a result of her being a kid?) but also having that realisation that things will change and end and its unstoppable and the one person you're closest to is no longer going to be around is a pretty hard pill to swallow in just a day

florence

Though it seems redundant, I think it’s kind of important to mention that Dipper is Mabel’s twin brother. They’re only children, as we know, but to spend the entirety of your short life with someone by your side means a lot. Getting bad news about growing up from her friends did upset Mabel, but to learn that her twin brother wouldn’t be at home with her anymore, starting a new school with her anymore, or even sharing a bedroom anymore. We could see episodes ago that she was already *very* worried about her and Dipper growing apart in the same manner as Stan, and Ford. It’s not just about their birthday party, to Mabel, this was confirmation of losing her best friend for what (comparing to Stan, and Ford) could be forever.

Pixie

Is Mabel selfish? Yes. Should Ford have told the rest of the family about the rift? Absolutely

MrMophead

It's funny. In 2x13, Ford tells Dipper to never tell anyone about the rift, not even Mabel. But telling Mabel about the rift would mean that Mabel wouldn't have given the Rift to Blendin (Bill)

Benjamin Warden

Well it's not just the party it's everything that comes with the end of summer, it's the combination of what Wendy told her about growing up, the notion her friends are gonna be leaving sooner than expected, and now the idea of being separated from dipper which was a fear she had all the way back when Ford first came into the show. She didn't do what she did just for a party, but to try and stop the changing of the times cause people are generally afraid of change.

TrixieTurner

Also, just an aside, Mabel’s problem wasn’t that she wasn’t going to have her birthday party on the right day. It was being told that the moment the summer ends her life is gonna suck and there’s nothing she can do about it. Not only is there nothing she can do about it, but she will have no one by her side to help her through it.

Nailsy

Okayyy here we go again with the Mabel stuff….I think something people tend to forget is that while Dipper isn’t being selfish in a bad way in this instance, most of the time Dippers selfishness comes at the expense of Mabel and others(Ex: Waddles, Helping Mermando, taking away Wendy’s autonomy sometimes) Dipper’s selfishness rarely has anything to do with anything important tbh. Plus Mabel has no idea what the rift is, specifically because Ford told Dipper not to tell her. And Dipper was fully willing to trade over one of Mabel’s things when he made a deal with Bill. We can debate importance of the objects they were trading all we want, but they both made the same mistake. But besides all that…before we get into the next episodes maybe give some thought as to whether Ford would be a good mentor or not. Yes, Ford is trying to save the world, but keep in mind he had a huge hand in putting it in danger in the first place.

Nailsy

We’re in the endgame now

Ok
