That is actually super cool, also I remember reading that "zero" storyline and wondering where tf any of that had come from cause it was so dark compared to the series I remembered watching

He was inspired by the suspense and fun that could be had with a manga about games with high stakes! This led to the creation of the original yugioh ‘zero’ original storyline where yugi engaged in life or death games that often had awful punishments! So yes, Yugioh quite literally is a Jojo’s reference.
