A lot of the romance tropes are from Korean soap operas (kdramas). The slow mo shoulder scene is common in these dramas and the Korean song that started playing was actually one of the main theme songs for a drama that starred the voice actor for Jinu. A lot of kpop fans actually thought the initial trailers looked cringe and ridiculous but the movie paid a lot of respect and showed a lot of love for kpop and kdramas. Kpop has really exploded internationally since BTS in the mid 2010s and a lot of it is appreciation for the intensive dance choreography that accompanies the songs. It's a lot of hard work to maintain their vocals while dancing. What's interesting is apple TV just came out with a show called kpopped where kpop groups collaborated with western artists (like the Spice Girls!) for performances and you really get to see the difference in how much more work goes into a kpop performance. It's funny because you see the male western artists have their egos hurt alittle bit but the female artists all really appreciated the work
