2025-03-17 20:14:07 +0000 UTCI agree with what others have said, Holden really missed the mark on his analysis of the trial. Prosecution has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant committed the alleged crime. The defendant doesn't need to prove anything. The prosecution had a weak case. No evidence but the testimony of the cops who had a vested interest in the outcome (because the defendant alleged they were beating up a CI). No evidence of motive for the defendant committing the crime. We don't even see them put forth any theory of the defendant's motive and from the closing, it sounded like the closest they got was sometimes good people make mistakes. The defense had a witness who backed up part of the defense's story. He did testify that he was the cops' CI. He just didn't testify that he was on the platform that night. But here's the thing, he also very much looked like he was lying about that, which makes sense given that the room is filled with cops and his testimony could lead to the acquittal of an alleged cop killer. A major part of the jury's job is to decide if they believe the witnesses' testimony and I'm not sure how much weight they'd give to that. Then the defense had a litany of character witnesses and evidence, including police reports showing that the defendant actively helped the policy...evidence that we don't see the prosecutor make any attempt to discredit. I agree that the defense didn't prove that he didn't do it, but they didn't need to do that. The prosecutor 100% did not prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that the defendant committed the crime.

Go and watch the older seasons, because I can find so many faults with the lawyer side of things. This is the best lawyer stuff we have ever gotten in daredevil. The prosecution didn't have shit. This is not we have to agree to disagree situation Put away your rose tinted glasses please. Only valid criticism Ive heard is the weird cgi in the first episode.

The prosecution had a weak case that was reliant on the word of one police officer. All Matt Murdock had to do was create doubt. And he happened to have an ace in his briefcase. The DA made a solid argument, but the jury's not guilty verdict was reasonable (in my opinion). It’s probably the best and most accurate trial we’ve gotten so far (which isn’t saying much, of course).
