(Early Access) Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie

Comments

Could I make a request for the two of you to watch Once and Always? It's the 30th anniversary special of Mighty Morphin. It is a wonderful tribute to both the late Thuy Trang and her character Trini, as well as a smaller tribute to JDF because filming had finished before his passing.

I remember watching this movie as a teenager and being so confused about why they changed things up. The Zeo Crystals were supposed to be the most powerful source of energy, so the fact that they could just create new powers out of nowhere felt off-putting to me. Zeo (the season before the movie) ended on a high note—for once, the Rangers didn’t lose their powers, unlike every season before it. But when the next season started, they didn’t even acknowledge the events of the movie. They even retconned some of what had happened. The biggest issue was that they never explained why they couldn’t use the Zeo powers anymore. Growing up, I thought it was such a dumb reason to change everything—just to sell new toys. Fast forward five years, and I discovered Super Sentai. That’s when I learned the real reason: they ran out of footage. That’s why each Power Rangers season had new suits, Zords, and powers—it was all based on the next Sentai series. Fun fact: In Super Sentai, every season is a fresh start with new actors, characters, and even a new world. Midway through Turbo, Power Rangers started doing something similar by switching out the cast. After In Space, they made it a tradition—sometimes keeping continuity, sometimes not. It was fun going back and watching the Super Sentai series that Power Rangers was based on. They did try to keep the same core story, but sometimes they added completely original elements—like Lord Zedd, who was never in Sentai.

Holden i also loved TPR when i was a young teen...for the obvious visual reasons Divatox and Kimberly...but now as i look at it as an Adult i have to say Yeah TPR was not amazing but the visuals will always be....it's obvious that hyperactive Hormones played a major role in the whole Power Ranger evolutions throughout the series to be so successful for so long when it came to viewership. 🤭

I was wondering if you've seen the teaser for the independent power rangers project: "Legend of the White Dragon"? It shows a more mature take on the power rangers and actually features some of the original cast. It was also the last power rangers related project Jason David Frank worked on before he passed.

Yup, Matt and I reacted to it. Currently editing it for Patreon now!

Have u ever watched the power Rangers short film by Joseph Kahn? It's a fan film taking the Rangers in a more mature direction. It's on YouTube.
