Since you guys mentioned it so many times, the reason you're reading Shikishima's name differently than how you're hearing it is because when Japanese people say things quickly, they can drop vowels here and there. Since the language almost always has a vowel accompanying a consanent, the meaning still comes through.
So his name is pronounced like "she-key-she-ma" but they're saying it quickly as "sh-ki-sh-ma"
Same with his given name (or first name but jpn people say given names last), Koichi. Its pronounced like it looks, but they're saying it fast like "Koich" so you'd end up hearing "Koich-san"
