was always a bit indifferent to this movie myself. despite owning it on vhs, it was one of those movies where i had to be in the mindset to watch it, not necessarily one i could throw on any time, any mood. i would recommend, however, if you are looking into something that could be in a similar vein, but more adult oriented (dark fantasy, good vs evil, great set design) i would have to say legend (1985). Tim Curry is absolutely great in his portrayal of darkness, and it also happens to be one of tom cruise's earliest roles, if i'm not mistaken.
