I really enjoyed the movie the first time, and might have even enjoyed it more the second time watching it with you guys.
The movie is far from perfect, but I do think they succeeded in achieving what they wanted, which is why the movie works fine for me.
A lot of people seem to trip over the CGI, which is a common practice these days; if the CGI isn't pitch perfect a lot of people will simply throw the entire movie in the garbage.
I completely agree with Holden that it's pretty obvious that artistic choices were made, and that's why it looks the way it does. For example; the CGI in the movie starts out pretty fine with the running and all, it's only when the baby-shower scene happens that the CGI of the babies seems off. The other objects or even the therapy dog looked fine. To me it's obvious the babies were made less realistic and more comic/comedy looking to make the scene less intense to watch. If you watch Jen you can see she shouts out in horror when the scalps aim for the baby etc. Clearly the studio asked to tune this down a little as they were concerned this might be too extreme for audiences.
As for the time-bubble/time/travelling scenes; I think it's a combination of reasons why it looked off at times. First of all the scene is extremely CGI heavy and people should not underestimate how difficult it can be to pull of such a scene. It's not Avatar; a fantasy world based on very grounded and basic ideas we all know: rocks, grass, plants, water, direct light from the sun etc.... this is a complete fictional setting with no real life counterpart whatsoever. Which may sound like having a "carte blanche" at first, it usually means that there is no perfect way to do it, there will always be something that people say is off. The amount of imagery that we see in this scene is insane, layers and layers of fragments from other scenes and movies, all moving around and twisting. To do this perfectly it would require an insane amount of time and money, of which you could ask yourself if it would add anything since it's just for a couple of short scenes. Besides that I'm wondering if it's even possible at this moment in time; current CGI is pretty good at times, but more often still mediocre at best. And last; don't forget there is a current ongoing issue in Hollywood about stealing/using an actors likeness without his or her approval, just because the studio "owns" their previous work. It's one of the reasons actors are now on strike. It could very well be that with Flash they decided to make the appearances recognisable enough for audiences to see who they were meant to be, but different enough to avoid any legal battles concerning misuse of using an actor's likeness.
As for the annoying younger Barry; yes very annoying, but so very necessary for the story. It shows us what kind of guy Barry would have become if he didn't lose BOTH his parents at a very young age. He didn't have to grow up to be an adult at a very young age, he didn't start working on a career even when he was 18, he's a mommy's grown up manchild. He doesn't appreciate what he has, and he doesn't realise what he can lose. It builds up to this fight/discussion they have in the Batcave where older Barry just snaps because of his intolerable juvenile behaviour. It's what forces older Barry to accept that he can't save his mom, but also realise that without her death he would never have become the hero he is. A bittersweet realisation.
All in all I think this movie is pretty good. If you're the kind of person who goes to a cinema to be completely submerged in a story, who likes to really place themselves in the position of others, who can enjoy a ride and only to start judging afterwards; this is a great movie for you.
If you're the kind of person who goes to a cinema only to sit there with your arms crossed over your chest thinking "well...movie... prove to me your worth my time!" then you will definitely have a hard time with this one.

As a huge Flash fan, I am beyond disappointed in this film.
I am so tired of making Flashpoint the only Flash centric story DC seemingly wants to adapt. And this movie doesn't even utilize the Reverse Flash, Barry Allen's arch nemesis, who played a prominent role in the original Flashpoint comic. Instead we get the "Dark Flash" who despite technically being the movie's primary antagonist barely even makes a couple minutes of screentime.
If you're gonna discard the entirety of the Flash's rogues gallery in favor of your own villain creation (who isn't even an original idea btw, the whole "evil alternate future version of Flash" thing has been done better many times) at least have him be a notable presence in the movie. I'm pretty sure Dark Flash has about as much screen time as the Batfleck cameo.
There are slivers of a good Flash story in there. Barry's relationship with his mother, Nora, is wonderful. The scene between the two Barry's, where main Barry gets upset because Barry 2 was throwing darts at a gift Nora gave him was wonderful. But there's not enough of that.
The whole finale in the speedforce was a nightmare for the eyes, especially all the CGI cameos. If you're gonna try to pull at the nostalgia strings at least have the curtesy of not having the deceased actors look so noticably like CGI monstrosities. The quick cameo of George Reeve's Superman in black and white is especially insulting, seeing as the actor despised his association with the role and it is fairly well known that his disdain for only being associated with Superman was part of the reason he unalived himself. For the movie to have the audacity to make a soulless CGI cameo of him destroyed any good will the movie may have garnered.
In general the CGI is pretty bad in this movie, but the CGI nostalgia baits in the 3rd act just stick out like sore thumb.
Then there's also Barry, after having an entire story about how it's bad to mess with time, still messes with time to get his father out of prison. Like, what the hell. So much for a character arc, Barry learned nothing from the events of this movie. It would've been so easy to not fuck this up but they did anyway.
Besides those big criticisms there's also smaller things like how I think the main Flash suit is a butt-ugly adaptation of his comic design. Overdesigned texture, horribly designed helmet (is it really so hard to just give him a regular damn cowl, even the CW managed that and their budget is like a quarter and dreams), way overdesigned yellow lines (like seriously, what the hell), the boots are a weird mix of gold and red (they're supposed to be pure gold/yellow, stop overdesigning his boots) and the lightning belt is adapted from Wally West's Flash suit and not any of Barry Allen's.
In the realm of comic suit adaptations the main Flash suit is trash tier.
The storyline is overall competently written, but it's a poor adaption of the Flashpoint story and overall just shows alot of disrespect towards the Flash's lore.
I can't in good conscience give it anything better than a 6/10 but taking stuff like the CGI cameoes into account I'd go as low as a 4/10.
It is disgraceful that this will forever be the first ever Flash movie.
