I’d also like to say, the villain… every time I saw him on screen, I kept thinking to myself “I’d love to see Tim Curry play this guy” Tim’s energy would probably have worked so perfectly for this movie.

2023-06-26 04:03:41 +0000 UTCThis is the most I’ve seen of it the movie. I gotta say, it’s not for me. Nothing bad to say to anyone who likes it. If I’d been a fan of the anime I bet I would love it. And I’ve got so much respect for the Wachowski’s for going so HARD on the stylization and getting their vision on screen. I definitely hold the film in high regard for that. But that stylization and tone, it would be a very difficult watch for me.

2023-06-26 04:01:45 +0000 UTCHer’s my opinion. I didn’t watch the movie when it first came out. I did eventually watch it a couple years ago and loved it. I think it didn’t do as well because people didn’t know what to make of it. I also think back then, people were still hungry for gritty realism. But in 2023 we have plenty of gritty in real life. So I suspect it would do better today in theatre because it’s a great distraction from reality.
