(Exclusive) Bad Batch S01 Episodes 10&11

15:00 Gobi is not actually Hera's uncle. Gobi and Numa were freedom fighters on Ryloth that were a part of Cham Syndulla's (Hera's father) resistance cell, so naturally they are very close with the Syndulla family. He's not her uncle, more so he's a very close family friend that they call him uncle.

Hector Rivera

Hera's father was in Clone Wars. He was the Twi'lek who helped the Jedi retake Ryloth from the Separatists.

You guys generally liking the Bad Batch more I think is really a culmination of Dave Filoni going from Lucas fanboy to a master.

Anthony Daramola

Exactly!!! It's like when Germany waged war on the world and then were occupied by the Allies after the nazis lost. The Separatists waged war on The Republic and lost and now The Republic/Empire has every right to occupy and set up a new government that will be loyal or at the very least not wage war against them again

This war with AT&T is one for the history books

I’d agree 10 is one of the weakest, most fillery episodes in the season, even if it was still beautifully animated and had some fun Omega-CID stuff. Bad Batch really is culmination of all the lessons of Clone Wars and Rebels. clone Wars was an anthology, that spanned the galaxy and jumped frequently from setting to setting, even cast to cast in each arc. We might have gone weeks without Obiwon, for example. Rebels inverted that, focusing on a singular, brand new crew and it’s adventures, as it slowly integrated into the Rebellion, but it took a while to warm to the crew as found family. Here, the Bad Batch got a brief intro in Clone Wrs Season 7, so we knew who they were, and we’re mostly following the, but we still get to take sort of a tour around the galaxy during this transition from Republic to Empire that we’ve never seen before in any detail. Animation wise…even early Clone Wars was advanced for it’s time. We scoff at how rough it looked now, but George Lucas was dumping money in to fund the show because it cost so much to do the new-at-the-time style. The show got much better by s3-4, and was downright amazing by s5-6. Then Disney bought the franchise and forced a shift to the cheaper animation of Rebels, which itself got better over time. Disney Plus drops, they need content and give Filoni the bank to make S7, which was further refinement of s5-6 with a bid budget, and it looked mind blowing. Now, they’ve mastered the style and we’re getting these watercolor portraits, epic lighting\ effects, and crisp models for everyone. It’s really the pinnacle of animation

Cham was also in some Rebels episodes

Clearly they completely put season one of clone wars out of their minds 🤷🏻‍♂️ and never bothered to remember anything from it.

You've actually met Hera's family before in Clone Wars. Cham was the leader of the resistance on Ryloth against Senator Free Taa and the Separatist occupation. He ultimately teamed up with Mace Windu to free the planet.

Fun fact Raxus the former capital of the separatist alliance was based on concept art for The Imperial City also known as Coruscant. This art was created for Return of the Jedi which originally was meant to feature the city in the final act but never made it into the film. The art depicted a very Gothic Revival looking city and you can see it in the design of Raxus with some areas looking like a more sci fi Glasgow.

To be fair, Raxus was the capital of the separatist alliance. The headquarters of the CIS that committed treason by seceding from the republic. In any traditional situation, the vanquishing group in this case the empire would have the right to occupy and demand indemnity and other punishment on this world.

As much as I like Season 1. I'm really excited for yall to watch Season 2, more development for Tech and Echo who I personally feel are slept on in Season 1. Also yes the Cameos make sense in the context and they are used effectively. They don't distract from the story they elevate it

Dawson

AT&T and Holden might be the greatest rivalry since Batman vs Joker
