Comments

Thank you very much!

Holden Hardman

Love these reactions - hope you know I consider this channel one of few that I eat my meals too

Will Reay

Andor has became my favourite Star Wars live action show since Mando season 1

Will Reay

People reply to my comments disagreeing all the time, don't take personally my guy. Unless they be calling you shit 👊

Dawson

I am ligit so confused

Dawson

@Dawson Yeah, that's what I figured. And yeah, the She-Hulk comment section was certainly something haha. @mourbow, if you want, we can have a civil conversation. We don't need to resort to name-calling.

Jacob Ember

I think Mourbow is trolling or miss reading it. Jacob is cool Mourbow the days off name calling are done on this patreon, I annoyed them into leaving 🤣. Remember the She-Hulk comment section? Good times 😍

Dawson

I just don't think the Empire are as cool in Rebels as other media 🤷. In other media they seem way more daunting and intimating

Dawson

Name one character that lived in Tarkin Town? Without looking it up...

Dawson

I think during the time of Rebels, stormtroopers are mostly used as policemen, they don't have any war anymore so no real reason to be elite bloodthirsty soldiers, and the ghost crew is more annoying than dangerous for the empire, so it makes sense they start "nice" against them but more the crew goes thurther, the more the empire gets serious

André Dulac

"A New Hope still had the intro where the Stormtroopers slaughtered the Rebels and Luke's family" - didn't the stormtroopers just burn down all of Tarkin town? Isn't that at least the equivalent of killing two old people in a hut? And in season 3 and 4, the Empire is fairly effective and competent (not saying more to avoid spoiling).

You guy absolutely need to watch the lego star wars holiday special. No rebels spoilers. One of my favorite star wars movies. less than an hour

Justin Forester

Also ima say it again Rebels is objectively a 7/10 but I don't like it. Also Clone Wars is also a 7/10... but I'm extremely bias so it's a 9...

Dawson

Okay I liked them in A New Hope cause there was a balance of Fing shit up and 2 scenes of them being goofy, 1 of those scenes was a blooper that made it into the final cut. The Empire in Rebels just seem less effective, until as Holden mentioned its convenient to the plot. Also... A New Hope came out in the 70s! 40 years after that this comes out with the same issues, I look over one because its twice my age and I respect my elders 😇🤭

Dawson

When are you guys gonna react to Andor?

Alex the Patron

How do you accept and defend the faults of A New Hope but not for Rebels when they have similar faults and ignore some of the (I personally say) equally f up shit the Empire does in Rebels, I’m not asking this to be mean or critical I’m asking for clarity cause to me theses statements don’t add up

Deadpool

Ye but A New Hope still had the intro were the Stormtroopers slaughtered the Rebels and lukes family. Also the f shit up at the start of Empire, one of the main reasons Empire works so well is the fact the empire are so over welming, raises the stakes and the less said about the Empire in RotJ the better as that was just embarrassing for them... Teddy bear. Like in Andor their weakness isn't the fact they are incompetent, it's their overconfidents. I think if Rebels leaned into that, they could still be intimating and goofy in a way that makes sense

Dawson

I’m wondering why it’s blue.

Chris Moranec

Is the rebel insignia blue from the show? Or is that an editing choice? It’s been a while since I’ve watched rebels and can’t remember if they used it at all.

Chris Moranec

Vader is always a double edged sword - his presence is a special attraction that triggers a reaction at first, but you eventually realize he can’t lose and 99% of opponents at this stage should get pwn3ed quickly, so it becomes a lot of gimmickry to justify their survival. KENOBI ran into the same problem; it was pretty clumsily handled. The fact that the Vader fights were the selling point of the show really hamstrung things. Here, it’s just a couple episodes to kick off the season, not the entire season, and they more or less did as much as they could give the budget and violence level available on a on a Disney show. They had the flashy Force stuff, but Vader also reminded us that Anakin was a sound tactician and didn’t lose those skills. He baited the Rebels with the unwitting administrator, then nearly solo’s the Phoenix Squad fleet. There was no question of his dominance, with the Rebels escaping only when Vader sensed Ahsoka and decided to try to take them alive, only losing when his admirals fumbled.

Jonathan Ma

Gregor survived, but not his mind it seems ^^ I guess the explosion destroyed his chip, that or it was already destroyed when he crashed and got amnesia

André Dulac

@Volume I appreciate your questions. However, all I said was that I liked season two more than season one and that I hope they enjoy it. I didn't tell Holden or Jen how to feel going forward. Plus, I didn't mention anything specific that they should be getting excited about. At this point, it is fairly known that they will form their own opinions whether they see our comments or not. People hyped up specific arcs all the time in the comments section of their Clone Wars videos. If they end up not liking the season, it surely won't be because of a single comment that tells them that there is some fun stuff ahead. Not to point fingers, but there's a comment on this video itself that says that the finale to this season is some of the best Star Wars ever. Is that not setting expectations as well?

Jacob Ember

Genuine question, why set expectations? Your experience is great but the things you might like and appreciate might not be the same for everyone. So something that might be exciting for you might not be for them and their hopes were up for nothing and they leave the situation feeling disappointed? Why not just let them wait and see and find out on their own?

Volume

was the rebel logo between each episode added to help with copyright?

Kyle Hunter

Yeah, for sure. I totally agree. I love 'Rebels' from beginning to end, but I think that the end of season two/seasons three and four is where there begins to be a clear tonal shift which I think worked for the betterment of the show.

Jacob Ember

Yeah Rebels really honed in on the 1977 Star Wars. The Ralph Mquarrie inspired animation, the campiness that you mentioned and even the explosions in space look like the same effects like in '77. The "campy fun" slowly goes away in later seasons which is where Rebels really hits.

Marcus Frederiksen

Fun fact: Dee Bradley Baker does the voice of Rex and all the clones. He’s also the voice/sounds for Appa and Momo in ATLA

Eric and Samantha

This is very true, Vader is very good at Win-Wins. If he kills them? Vader wins. If they get away and escape? Vader tracks them, finds all the rest of the rebels, and kills a lot of rebels/destroys a whole lot of ships. Vader wins.

Michael Ennis

I agree with both of you; however, I do think that given a few seconds more, that Vader would have been fine with killing Ezra. He was so close and Ezra was an easy enough target. There was a point in the "fight" between Kanan and Vader where Vader could have easily taken him out, but threw him at a crate instead. Therefore, I think that Vader's goal was to let Kanan escape, but to kill Ezra.

Jacob Ember

I wasn’t trying to say a literal “argument”, I was just using the phrase in the sense of a debate, to present an alternate idea to that which was postulated in the video :)

Michael Ennis

Is that really an argument? For me that was pretty much the deal when I watched these episodes for the first time.

Darth Mornabin

There's an argument to be made that Vader wasn't trying to kill Kanan and Ezra, but rather scare them into running back to the rest of the Rebels, with the tracking device on the shuttle then leading Vader to the whole fleet. Much like Luke, Han, Leia, etc. were "allowed" to escape the Death Star, thus leading the Empire to the Yavin base.

Michael Ennis

I totally get what you're saying and where you are coming from. To be fair though, different Star Wars projects treat the Empire very differently in terms of their capabilities. I mean, if you look at 'A New Hope,' we have a scene where Han Solo chases multiple stormtroopers down a corridor. Does it make sense? No, but at the end of the day, it's campy fun. I've always likened 'Rebels' to the campiness of the first Star Wars movie. I think at the end of the day it's really all up to personal preference. For me personally, 'The Empire Strikes Back' holds the best middle ground for the Empire's competence.

Jacob Ember

@mourbow How am I toxic? All I said was that you were spoiling something. You might not realize it, but saying that a character appears in a project that takes place after 'Rebels' signifies that they live through it. I wasn't saying anything out of malice. Hell, I didn't even tell you to delete your comment (which I should have). Just because someone calls you out doesn't mean that they are toxic. I suggest looking up the definition of what that word means because you are clearly misusing it.

Jacob Ember

Ahsoka doesn’t really know anakin is Vader nor did vader know she was alive so this all coming full circle is as Jen would say “ juicy “

Mattyjames

I think Jedi Fallen Order did the whole former padowan fighting vader scene better. Like it's not a fight its a horror movie. Also I really can't stand how incompetent the empire is in this show, like at no point do I think the characters are in danger. Like even in Clone Wars there are points were you are like "Idk how Kenobi is going to make it out" you know he will survive but its still suspenseful. Idk just my opinion 🤷‍♂️

Dawson

That’s kind of a spoiler.

Jacob Ember

What a great start to a great season of Star Wars television! I really like season one, but season two is much better (to me personally) by comparison. There's definitely a lot of fun stuff to come in this series! I hope you both enjoy.

Jacob Ember

The two clones that were with Rex, named Wolffe and Gregor were in the clone wars. Wolffe was the clone commander that served under Plo Koon. He was present in a lot of the episodes that Plo Koon was in and was the clone that captured Ahsoka in the Coruscant underworld while she was on the run during the Ahsoka arc where the temple was bombed. Gregor was the clone commando with amnesia on the desert planet in the season 5 droid arc. We thought he was blown up, but he actually survived.

Jacob Plourde

Season 2 is amazing. Love seeing the Clones again I remember watching the trailer and everyone going mental when "My name is Rex" was said. always something I love to see post Clone Wars is what happened to the Clones. The start of the Season released early 2015 so right before Force Awakens so there was alot of hype in the Star Wars fandom. The later episodes released post Force Awakens in 2016 just before Rogue One.

Jedi Mandalore (Dylan)

Kanan isn’t even a Jedi knight, he’s a padawan and Ezra is the padawan of a padawan. Vader could have easily killed both of them if he tried. Dueling order 66 survivors is the only fun Vader gets to have, so he wasn’t gonna rush it.

Jacob Plourde

You guys know Rex. The other clones are Wolffe, who served under Plo Koon, and Greggor, who R2D2 and the other droids found in that desert town in the droid arc.

Lisa Leyendekker

This is my favorite reaction series you are producing ATM.

Mark McKeever

Can't wait to see your reaction to the finale of this season, some of the best Star Wars ever.
