A cool detail to also notice is that the Na'vi only have 4 fingers on each hand, but the avatars (like Jake) have 5, since they are controlled by humans whose brains are capable and used to controlling 5 fingers :)

The graphics in the first half are about the only thing that escapes scrutiny. And my complaint doesn't have to do with when it came out; it's a seriously weak plot point.

But I love this movie too. I hadn't seen it in years and just saw it again in IMAX. I felt like a kid again from when my parents took me. It was awesome.

Basically every story is derivative of another. I don't get why people complain about that. If they want to use that argument then they need to complain about some of the greatest movies ever.

Watched this in IMAX 3D. Except I came late and there was no one at the booth to give me 3D glasses. That was an experience all right.

I was gutted when James Horner passed away. His musical score for Avatar is so beautiful, and I wish I could have heard what he might have done for the sequel.

When they show the pod for entering the avatar away from the compound after they said no ones ever left the compound, the entire plot is obvious. They'll need to enter from away from the compound so they'll probably switch sides and I wonder who the bad guy would be then? Military scarface? Also the effects are great in the first half of the movie but then they just reuse models endlessly for the war scenes making it apparent they only modelled like 5 creatures.

Sad that Predator wasn't mentioned in the intro... 😭

I love this movie so much. You’re absolutely right about the story being derivative but I’ve always found it to be a shame how so many people couldn’t see all of the other merits the movie brings
