(Early Access) MWW She-Hulk Episode 1

Meh. If you can't separate real life from a TV show, I think those people have bigger issues tbh. Like I'm not a fan of the first episode but Jesus you'd think she said "gas all the men" from the reactions online. Hate how you can't just like or dislike a show now you have to have a political stance and choose a side. And any praise or criticism about the show is seen as being a SJW or a Sexist

Yeah the discourse on this show is exhausting. I'm almost tempted to say turn off Youtube comments. People seem to miss when she's mentioning the hassle she gets in life is not from Men, its from A-Holes who happen to be men. If you're not an A-Hole she's not attacking you. Plus the dialog she has with Bruce is typical "sibling" banter, with the one-upmanship that goes along with it.

I mean; I think it has a lot of potential and that it’s been getting way too much pushback. But, it is taking a 4th wall breaking comedy comic book beloved hero; and using it to go a little overboard with the writers beliefs/takes; her rant toward Bruce is quite literally her explaining his level of expertise to him, like he is nobody special; when he isn’t trying to do what he is doing out of some toxic male need to belittle her, it’s b/c they are family and he cares for her and has seen most of his loved ones die, in part b/c of their powers. I just hope that she realizes during the span of the series, that her attacking Bruce verbally, was misguided and immature. And that she learns that she does have the inherit risks and responsibility that comes with being a hulk and that she is able to use it with her area of expertise to help others the way she wants to. Basically, I think a lot of people are going overboard with that one clip, which will likely be a huge part of her journey to realize that she will have to face multiple issues that Bruce tried to prepare her for, not b/c he is a man, and not b/c she is a woman; but b/c they are family. As humans, I wish we could stop pushing down on one another, believing the lie that it’s the way to lift up another group. I’ll add, exactly what Jen and Holden shared, was 💯 my sentiment.

It hasn't even been a week since the first episode dropped, and the discourse around this show is already exhausting to be a part of (with all of the review-bombing and misogynistic takes). As an avid comic reader, I think they have adapted the character of She-Hulk perfectly so far. The first episode was by no means perfect, but I found it to be a very enjoyable watch. Hulk is clearly the stronger of the two Hulks, and was obviously not trying to hurt his cousin who is still learning about her newfound powers. Also, to be clear, Jenn was trying to get the point across to Bruce that the reason why she can do what she can do with her powers (what separates or makes them unique from one another) is that they are two different people with different backgrounds/lives. As a woman, Jenn is better at suppressing her anger because she will be ridiculed or even hurt if she doesn't. Bruce, as a man, has not had to go through those same hurdles (he's had other hurdles to go through involving staying calm/not becoming angry), and so he doesn't understand exactly what Jenn is talking about. Sure, Bruce is trying to help her, but what he's missing is that just because Jenn got her powers from him doesn't mean that they have to necessarily control them the same way. Anyways, that's just how I perceived it. At the end of the day, the point of the episode was to show that that Jenn and Bruce are not the same people, and that She-Hulk is not a carbon copy of Hulk. In that respect, I think the writers succeeded at what they were trying to do.
